I can't get past about 2.5 - 3 hrs of screen on time...

I absolutely love my 6P, but coming from a Note 3 with a Zerolemon 10,000 milliamp battery on it, this battery life is killing me. I manage my wifi settings when coming in and out of "zones" using tasker, manage my location settings when I need gps. Bluetooth is always on connecting to my Moto 360 and car (hah, when it stays connected that is). Screen timeout is set at a minimum and adaptive brightness is enabled. I installed GSam, but I don't see anything out of the ordinary as far as apps are concerned. Do I have to resort to wiping and resetting the phone. I hate having to charge or think about charging in the middle of the day, but certainly willing if this is the best I'm going to get, but I keep reading about some of you getting 5 hrs SON.

Thanks

What's your signal look like? If it's yellow, then your battery won't last that long. I had an issue with Google play services, it kept WiFi on and was wakelocking my phone. It's gone now, and I'm back to getting around 4.5 hrs on SoT.

My cell signal changes between light green and dark green. Attaching some screen shots. Google services is higher on my list as well. What did you do with it?received_10208230983235473.jpgreceived_10208230984515505.jpg

Completely nothing. It's weird. I did uninstall some old apps that I don't use anymore. One day after rebooting twice I noticed that WiFi bar had gone from solid to blank, and my battery was great again. I really did nothing besides uninstalling old apps.

Here are some screenshots from before it died last night. Can anyone see something I'm missing here?

Thanks

Turn off location services for a couple days see how much better the battery gets

Happy to give it a shot today, but boy...I certainly can't live with this awesome phone crippled like that.

I think that you may have to adjust to the fact that you're not going to get zero lemon kind of battery life in this phone. I say that because I had zero lemon and it does spoil you :) and I had to remind myself several times of this. With the phone having quick charge, it makes charging my phone a more pleasant experience. Additionally, as I'm sure you know, everyone's battery life is going vary greatly depending on use. I normally only have to charge my phone every other day, but I don't use my phone the way you do either.

I hope you're able to find a solution that is satisfying for you :).

I'm getting exceptional battery life on my 6p. I unplugged it this morning at 8 a.m. with a full charge when I got up. Did some email, social media and messaging. Then I streamed the whole Seahawks game on NFL Mobile using 4G, and I've used it since then also for some more email social media and messaging. Its almost been 12 hours now and I'm still at 29% battery life. I've been on 4G the entire day, no Wi-Fi at all.

I had decent battery life today. I forgot my charger so it's going to die soon lol

Are you asking because some people are getting in the 4-6 hrs SOT, or are you comparing it to your zerolemmon battery?

Because if it's the latter, you're comparing battery life between a device with 10,000mAh to one with 3450mAh. That's roughly 3 times larger than the unit in the 6p, and there's no way you're going to make up for that if everything else (signal strength, location services, settings, etc) are the same between the two. The newer processor will help, but there's no way it can overcome that deficit.

I get about the same SOT as you do, but I also got the same on my Droid Turbo as well, which had a 5.2" screen with the same resolution and a 3900mAh battery, and a CPU that didn't have the issues that the 810 had. The only device I've had that got over 3hrs SOT was my Droid Maxx, and that had a 5" 720p screen.

At this point, they either need to drop back to a 1080p screen, use more efficient battery tech or a larger battery, or find more efficient screen tech, or a combination of them. The screen is always going to be the largest drain on a phone's battery, and since everyone wants to stay thin, the options are to go with a bigger screen (and therefore a bigger battery), but then the larger screen pulls more juice. If they relaxed the thin requirement, they would be able to put a battery that could handle the screen size by making a thicker battery rather than a thin one with a larger footprint.

My wife's note 5 got over 6 hrs screen on yesterday. Mostly all playing candy crush style games, and a lot of facebook. My 6p has gotten over 4 but that's the most I've ever tried I'm not a heavy user.

you get probably the same SOT as I do, but I also spend 8 hours a day in an office that gets a yellow zone cell signal. It doesnt look like Doze kicked in much on your phone from the screenshots you provided. Perhaps try leaving your phone off the charger one night when you go to bed and see how much battery you lose overnight. Maybe you are having doze problems due to an app wake locking your phone.

Thanks everybody for your replies. I'm certainly not comparing it to the Zerolemon battery. I know it is 3 times the size of it. I'm just comparing my SOT to everybody else's SOT. I thought I was managing all of the battery consuming options on the phone, so I was thinking maybe I needed to reset and start over if there isn't anything out of the ordinary eating up my battery.

I'm on a Network Extender in my house since we live on the fringes of their towers. My signal shows as mostly yellow and red all day. But I was under the impression that was due to Doze. The red areas are the same areas where it in Doze, is that different for other people, I mean when you're in Doze does it show as red for signal or not? Otherwise I might need to do a reset as well.

it all comes down to usage. It always does. I could listen to music for 12 hours and get 25 minutes of screen on time. I could watch netflix over 3G at full brightness and get an hour of screen on time. Or I could leave the screen on at 0% brightness and in airplane mode and get like 7 hours of screen on time.

Screen on time is one metric of measurement, it is not the only metric, and some like me argue it isn't even the most important metric. There are many, many, many factors that go into an individual's experience with battery life.

Like wunderbar said, SOT varies but its what a lot of users want to report. I have said it before, I range from 3-6 hours of SOT depending on what I'm doing. I've gotten to less then an hour of SOT with 30% left. Hotspot, Pandora and all connected to Bluetooth and no WiFi. But then days where I'm just on FB, web browsing, and texting, I get close to 6 hours.

See, when I'm web browsing or texting, I still top out at 3 hours. Location set to battery saving, adaptive display off and brightness just off the bottom, no BT or NFC, mobile data and WiFi on. I am connected to a Network Extender for calls and text and WiFi for web surfing.

On paper I should be getting better SOT, but I'm not. Like I said earlier, when I look at my signal in the battery usage, my Cellular Network Signal is showing red when not in use (and I assume in Doze mode) and green when it is in use. I don't know if that's what others are seeing or not, but it makes sense that it would shut down the radios when not in use. If that's not what you guys are seeing though, then it might be an issue I need to remedy.

How is your WiFi? At the furthest location at my house my WiFi is still at 75% but when I'm downstairs, I'm usually at 90-100% signal. That might have an impact on battery life.

I also don't have a lot of items syncing. Just gmail, contacts, calendar and app data.

WiFi is solid green. It helps that 95% of the time, I'm about 20 feet from the router. Pretty much the same things syncing as you have. I don't use Facebook so that's not an issue. I'm starting to wonder if the Network Extender, while necessary, isn't the cause of my issues. I know for every device I've had, I always get less battery life than most people. I've had NEs since my first smartphone due to the poor signal in my area (without it I would get around -100dBm and with it I get around -65 to -75dBm on 1x doing voice calls). The only way to really check it out is if I were to go to a metro area with good signal and use it like I normally do. The only problem is that when I go to an area with better signal, it's usually on business or visiting relatives, so I don't use it the same as at home. Add to that a lot of bad signal areas between my home and cities, so it makes it hard to get an accurate picture to determine if my issues are solely signal related.
