I Can't Open The Charging Cover Door!

I have to keep my nails short for work but I've not had any problems opening the charging port. I've got some samsung Bluetooth headphones which have a similar flap over the charging port (not waterproof). I always joke and say that samsung were training me for the flap pc the S5.

Re: I Can't Open The Charging Cover Door! - SOLUTION!!!

Stop in a beauty salon and request one artificial nail. Tap to your power cord. Works every time.
BTW, I can up with this solution reading all the replies to this post.
After struggling, this is a sweet solution.

what a stupid cover. i removed the piece of crap... its for waterproofing ???? like i am going swimming with the phone in my pocket. whoever designed it is " i hope " on the welfare system...

what a stupid post....... its a ****e design....... pen caps, acrilic nails, paperclips..... are people stupid... tear it off and dont be on the phone over the toilet...duh........

Get out the magnifier and a pick and open it, get a small piece of pipe cleaner and bend it in a 90 * fashion then super glue the pipe cleaner to the charging door favoring the opening side not the pivot side of charging door.

I have had my phone since Xmas and I have been waiting for my charge cover to break off and it finally did. Terrible design

I know this is the most unpopular feature of the S5 phone, but still, it only breaks if you don't take care of it.

I have two S5 phones, one since release day (mine) and the OEM charger cover is still as good now as it was when I got them.

I only use my left hand, little pinky fingernail to open it. Once it is open, you don't just swing it to the right, you must "tug it out" just a tiny bit to get the smallest (narrowest) part of the tag line. There is a very definitely "feel" to when it is out all the way.

Then never, ever try to swing it more than 90 degrees, or perpendicular to the end of the phone.

Putting it back, is a technique also. Tug it lightly to the left (phone face up to you) to about 45 degrees, and then push in lightly. That tail will retract back in, and then slide your thumbnail to the left. IF you insist on pushing in on the Left Side First, you are going to break it, the tail has not retracted all the way.

Has worked like a charm and no indication it is going to break.

Don't bother posting about IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS WAY.
You can't change what it is, learn to live with it, or just take it off and Get A Life...

Every other phone that I have owned, the charging port cover has broken on it. And none of those claimed to be Water Resistant. To make it Water Resistant means it must fit snug.

My 4 year old Galaxy S never had a charging port cover and it still works just fine. In fact, I just reactivated it today and added a new line for a Niece who's viral ex-husband just up and turned her phone off w/o even bothering to tell her. And she has to have a phone because she is on 24 hour call with Health Services.... If he were a 1,000 miles closer, I would go over and beat his sorry rump into the ground.

I have a problem because I have acrylic nails which are thicker than natural. It's ridiculous it's so difficult. I can imagine a time when I'll need to recharge, but I don't have a tool lwith me.
I habe acrylic nails too and can't open it. ..husband has no nails can't open it. I use a tack. Omg lol

As a result of my horrible and disgusting habit of biting my nails, I am unable to open the charging cover door. It's horrible. I climb into bed and struggle with it every night.

I wish Samsung had put some sort of tool (like a hook or something) that was connected to the USB cord.

Anyone else having the same issue, and have any suggestions besides making sure I have a paperclip kicking around when I plug my phone in?

I have this same problem, I just use a old McDonalds straw, works great!

If I knew this charging post was this miserable to open I never would've bought this phone. Samsung screwed this one up for sure.

Bought this to preserve the cap. But now, its more than just the cap preservation! I have been addicted to wireless charging! So convenient, just place the phone over the pad then thats it. I dont mind that it charges slow, half the time of wired charging. When i go to;bed, i just place it on the pad.. thanks to the charging port cover, i now have the convenience of wireless charging. 😀😁 picking up the phone from the pad when some calls, without the wires, and batt is always topped up ☺
