I defected from iPhone

I don't have access to my MBA atm, but find a song in the Finder and 2-finger click, then choose Get Info. It should be under there.

Also, as I was researching this, I learned that since HTC One (and most newer Android phones that lack an SD card) doesn't have USB mass storage mode, you have to use a work around, at least in doubleTwist. The guide I found said you can do it fairly easily in that case with AirSync, although it's a $5 addon.

this is weird, the songs dont show in finder, i see now why doubletwist wouldnt work, i had high hopes for isyncr and i cant understand why it wont run, theres just nothing to start it, i saw that Airsync, i will keep that in mind if all fails wit isyncr, i have been doing this since yesterday morning and getting nowhere, have you any idea why isyncr won't run?

About the Play store.....are all the apps in there safe, are they vetted before they go in there? thanks......edit- shoud i install an anti virus on my phone and if so which is the best one?.....preferably a free one but if paid is better i don't mind.

Hopefully I'm not repeating what someone else but to add on to the response you received, there's no viruses or malware that come from the play store. The worst that can happen are push notifications with useless ads. The danger comes in visiting malware sites and downloading malware content off the internet. I'd recommend downloading an antivirus from the play store just to be safe.

Ouch. Sorry to hear you having so much trouble. It's been my experience that Apple products work wonderfully together, but they make it as difficult as possible to use non-Apple products. I was just trying to get my MBA to work on my Dell monitor, but Thunderbolt apparently doesn't play nice with non-Mac Thunderbolt monitors, especially at my monitor's native resolution (2560x1600). So I'm faced with either running non-native resolution, or buying a new monitor just to use at my desk with my Mac :what:

I had never even heard of isyncr until this thread. Will have to take a look. It may be for the same reason as why doubleTwist won't without AirSync (i.e lack of USB mass storage mode).

What I found in the meantime:

Do you have access to a Windows PC or Parallels/Boot Camp on your Mac? If so, you can use the HTC Sync Manager to transfer playlists over from iTunes (so weird that they support Windows iTunes, but not Mac). ITunes sucks on PC.

If you don't have access to a PC, they explain how to transfer just the songs themselves from your Mac to the One.

Your last resort, if you most have the playlists and can't use Windows for the HTC Sync Manager program, would be to use the paid AirSync app for doubleTwist. That is, unless I can find a solution with this isyncr.

Thank you,i just checked out Airsync and it says to check your computers ip address and the devices too and they need to be the same, as far as i can tell they'r not, it says it says wifi mac address in the phone though, not ip address,, i did think about the windows thing on my mac, i might look into that, i presume you have to pay for Windows though.

Where are you seeing the WiFi MAC address? On isyncr or in the phone's settings? That sounds like it might use an Ad-hoc WiFi connection. If so, those can be finicky. USB would be preferable in that case.

Regarding Windows, I would imagine so. That seems too much trouble/expense in that case, if you don't already have it. Maybe a friend with a Windows PC otherwise?

I looked up isyncr. It seems it works with MTP mode, so it should work with the One. I'm guessing you already bought it? If so, let know which step you got to on here.

the version of isyncr i have is a 14 day trial with an option to upgrade to the paid version, i even installed Rocket player as they say it works with isyncr, the strange thing is that it just wont run and manually putting in ip address did no good, says it cant find the host.....saw the wifi mac address in "about" on the phone.

What step was that? Are the phone and Mac connected to the same router? It's possible that port forwarding could be an issue if so. Are there other computers connected to the same router?

Another solution I thought of is to upload all your music to the Google or Amazon cloud. I know Google doesn't charge for this. I'm not sure about Amazon. Then you could download via the Play Music/Amazon Music apps. It's kind of round-about, and could suck if you're not on fiber, but at least you'd have your songs backed up to the cloud.

Ok, i have come to the conclusion that isn't going to happen but thank you so much all for your efforts......this is what might be a good alternative, as most of the music i like was ripped from my cd's ( i don't mind paying again to buy the others) then can anyone help me with a programme for ripping cd's from iTunes, they won't go directly to the phone, i have googled it but some user input would be much better, thanks in advance.....i just realised though it would have to take the music out of itunes 9 if there is such a thing) as for some reason my Mac refuses to recognise my phone.

First for you, all non Thunderbolt displays work perfectly fine. If your monitor is newer it has a display port and you can plug it in directly. If is older you need a dvi-d dual link from display port adapter like this one HDMI Cable, Home Theater Accessories, HDMI Products, Cables, Adapters, Video/Audio Switch, Networking, USB, Firewire, Printer Toner, and more!

iTunes 11 is out are you on an older version of OSX?

Also iTunes can covert ripped cds that were done in ACC format to MP3

How to Convert AAC to MP3 Using iTunes

Also you can transfer songs wirelessly through the use of AirDroid, you just have to do it manually.

My Mac is updated to the latest iTunes and it's running on Mountain Lion, thank you for the link, i'll check that out, i liked Airdroid so are you saying i could transfer songs out of iTunes manually? i didn't see an option, could you advise me on that please.

I checked out the link to convert and that looks very straight forward......now if i can just get them out of itunes and onto my phone, dragging them onto the desktop into a folder didn't work as my phone isn't showing as a drive or anything at all.

Thanks, but I found that in the first few minutes of my day-long search for a solution.

There is a known issue with Thunderbolt and those adapters, where they stop working when the Mac (or monitor, I forget) sleeps. The only way to get the adapter to transmit again is to power cycle the monitor. It has to be done at the plug, which is a huge PITA. It's apparently due to Apple not implementing the Thunderbolt according to the published standard or something like that. I don't have the source on my phone, but see many of the reviews on that Monoprice link talking about sleep issues.

I believe there is also an issue with most Thunderbolt cables, so even if I upgraded my monitor, I might run into that.

I have it hooked up from display port to display port with zero issues, so probably has to do with thunderbolt and dvi-dual link.

Yeah, I'm talking about upgrading my old 30" that only has dual-link DVI to a newer one with displayport. They still apparently experience issues with Thunderbolt on Macs at 2560x1600.

First world problems. I'll probably just use an old 20" Dell at 1650x1050, but I don't have enough desk space for 2 monitors right now, so I'm waiting until I get a GeekDesk.

ok folks, i decided i'm going to install Windows on my Mac, hopefully once thats done i will be able to connect my phone and after converting my music files install them in my phone, it's not as expensive as i thought it would be and it will be very handy.

I really hope you get that music situation solved. What I do with mine is simply drag and drop from iTunes (or is the iTunes folder in Finder?) to android file transfer when my device is connected. Most of my files are mp3s though.
