I dial and connect to a number, but a password is not receive

[AC Question]

I dial my voicemail, and then the password to get in, and the password shows on the dial pad, and the sounds of striking the key are heard, but the password number never is not received by the voicemail service,
also same with call a switchboard, and the extension number is not received??
