The Ultra pixels,Zoes and blink feed make up the HTC One
Without those features its just boring, why release this? What does this have over the regular One?

Its all about choice. Plus on time updates
This. Plus, the Play Store has alternatives to what HTC offers for free or little cost. Also, keep in mind that they may not be marketing this to the average consumer. The developer and tech groups maybe their target.

What does it have? Faster OS updates directly from Google is one thing.. May not be everyone's thing but others love having the latest and greatest.

Well I have a Nexus 4 and feel there should only be one phone like this.

Any reason or just a feeling? I don't see why it matters.. Google will push updates to all their phones running stock (HTC One, S4, Nexus phones) so I don't see what the issue is.

Re: I on't think this is a good idea.

It just appeases the development community and provides them top notch hardware with stock Android where Nexus hardware is good, but never as good as Samsung or HTC flagships. So in this case, they get to have it both ways. But I don't see it as a loss for HTC, it's not like this messes up sales of the ones that comes with Sense, it just gives those that prefer vanilla Android the ability to choose a phone with top hardware without having to void their warranty by unlocking and flashing a custom ROM which is what happens on the carrier version.

It also gives HTC a chance to pick up the next Nexus device as well. Of course they wouldn't be looking to make a super phone for a nexus but they could make a device so google can price it where they want and sell 1-2 million of them. So I see it as a good opportunity for them and not affecting sales of the current One.

Having said that, I agree with the part that those Sense features are what I like most about the phone so I wouldn't buy it if I had to spend $600 and had to choose.

This will be better than a Nexus 4 in my opinion. More durable materials, 32GB, LTE. Since I know nothing about HTC or Sense I will not know any difference. Plus, I want to have a better plain vanilla phone than the Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 is so inexpensive, anyone can get one! LOL!

Yeah thats the one thing...That and no Qi support which I really want ...But LTE and 32 GB goes a long way for Nexus 4 or GN owners. Lets hope they release some APK's for the camera. In the meantime I'm looking forward to a hands on review of it. Then we can make a better judgement...and we can always see what the Motorola X brings.

Between this and the Google S4 it sure beats not having the choice. I

Not if you go the Xperia Z route!

The Xperia Z would be a great phone to have stock.
The Touch screen buttons will make it have a more 'Nexus Esque feel'.
Specs are somewhat similar (CPU, RAM) with the Nexus 4 anyway

I was looking closely at that also. No LTE from what I have seen right? No LTE no dice from me, did that with the Nexus 4 and never again. If Sony wants to play in my sandbox, they need LTE. I really like the Sony, but ain't got time for that!

Well LTE isn't a must for me but it would be nice. Also I hear the viewing angles suck on the Sony xperia.

I also don't really care much about LTE either, 3G gets the job done personally.
And the Xperia Z does apparently bad viewing angles.

I would like LTE if it was just as cheap as HSDPA 42 and had more coverage.

Yeah. But I treasure battery life more than super fast data speeds.

Umm the new LTE chips don't used up more energy then 3G. In fact in certain cases battery is better with LTE.

If it isn't available, and its not turned off. The constant searching for LTE will use more battery...thats probably what Spiral is referring to. If its in LTE then your right. The older gen (For example the the "Thunderbolt") sucked battery on LTE like a porn star.(No disrespect to porn stars:D)
