I got a message saying my text to a certain number had expired.

How can a message expire? Does that mean they never received the text?

Welcome to Android Central! It's possible that when you tried to send it, your cell reception was to poor. In this situation, I think the phone will keep trying for a certain amount of time to send the message, but if it keeps failing, the message won't send at all.
