I got an Android, but want to go back to the iPhone. Why is this?

Exactly this. But I will say Blackberry 10 can do this too. Windows phone not so much if at all. I meant more along the lines of moving from app to app and consistent speed and superior emailing and editing documents and files. Though on the email part Android falters sometimes.
Android has the fastest and easiest multi-tasking I have seen so far. Everything is literally a single tap away.

It sucks on the Android phones that still use physical buttons...Samsung phones have much more tedious mullti-tasking than my Nexus does. But on any Android phone with soft-menu navigation, multi-tasking is ridiculously fast and easy.

As for email...that is more a criticism of the GMail app than Android. And any email app can be used as your default on Android. Even BBM.

I think Apple build quality is overrated myself. I do agree it is good, but I think people often exaggerate it. Cracked screens are so common on iPhones that they have become a cliche.

Not that anyone else is any better. But Apple is not the be-all end-all of build quality IMO. Mostly they are good with details like light bleed or speaker clarity. I would describe it as polished, not necessarily durable.

That is so true. The aluminum on the iPhone 5 is so easy to scratch or burr. I like the idea of Kevlar, carbon fiber, stainless steel, and synthetic sapphire. However, some may not want to pay the, what, $5-$10 (if that) increase in phone costs using these materials might cause.

I like anything well engineered, who doesn't admire good craftsmanship?

I'm talking just some techies. An average consumer does not have this mindset when thinking of buying devices. Their first question nowadays when it comes to phones is can I get this app?

I think many people consider how their device looks. You do bring up a good point about apps. There is no ingress app on the iPhone and that is a huge disappointment!

I agree that the iPhone is fairly easy to scratch, but it is still the best build quality, IMO, on the market. I am speaking of fit, finish, symmetry, tolerances, etc.. They have a premium fit and finish, and actually do better in drop tests than most Androids.

But no serato app for android.
Or I-rig

Goes both ways

Part of this problem is Apple is only changing the iPhone design every two cycles. So in that two year cycle you see many other phones released with different looks and feel to compare with.

The iPad Air was a major step in design changes that added major improvements. I wish Apple did make their iPhones in design like their iMacs. Still waiting to see another company come out with a 27 inch all in one that is only as thin as that beauty.

I guess that depends on how you define productivity. For me it is the ease and speed of sharing information and accessing information. I have not seen anything as flexible as the Android Share menu so far. Any app can be integrated fully into Android, and immediately becomes accessible through this menu. I can attach anything I want to emails, and even if I could not, I can still use any email program as my default.

Bang on, nail on the head!

Android's seamless interaction between apps, the Share Menu, multiple file transfer and true multitasking capabilities etc... make it a real productivity tool, my iPad4 can really frustrate me sometimes, be it when trying to send or receive files via Email, transferring files to a PC without iTunes etc... It's great for gaming, ebook reading, movie watching and web browsing, but when tasks get a tad complicated, iOS can at times be a straight up no-go.

It is just posted so that iphone owners know that there is an issue and an update to fix it.

Weird though. I got the update on my iPad but my iPhone is not receiving any such patch.

Part of the excuse given for iOS's closed system is that it is more secure. This has always been a selling point for iOS (and OSx). So I think this merely shows that a closed system is not necessarily more secure.

I think it would depend on whether or not a closed or open platform has MORE vulnerabilities not whether they have ANY vulnerabilities as I'm sure all have some as this latest, once again, shows. I don't know the answer to that as that's not my area of interest.

If I am not mistaken, the government is replacing BB with iPhones. They must be pretty secure.

I work for the gov't. It can't happen fast enough.

The government is probably patching these holes on their own.

They obviously are not secure if so many experts are warning about this. Emphatically even.
