Jeff, I get that you don't like and don't choose Apple. That's fair. However, because you don't like their model or products doesn't mean their model or products are objectively flawed or that I have to choose between security and the freedom to use the device as I want to, like you wrote. That's the choice that would apply to YOU. I have two iPhone's and two iPads after having a plethora of Android devices BECAUSE they work precisely the way I want them to not because they don't. Just because I don't sit here and write about android's flaws doesn't mean I don't believe it has many. I know its a forum and you enjoy writing about your opinions and preferences but keep in mind, while writing, that that is what they generally are...opinions and preferences. It may not be a bad idea to write them as such. One could ask why is it that most android devices have to be rooted to yield this freedom that is so highly praised IN THE ANDROID COMMUNITY? Why is that 'freedom' not available without capitalizing on a security exploit to root, that is often required? No, I'm not going to derail the thread, I just want some to recognize that what you're writing here is your impressions, opinions, and preferences. Nothing wrong with you preferring android. Your preference doesn't make it objectively better than iOS, however, it just means that's YOUR preference. I'm not knocking android just because I'm using iOS and that doesn't mean I need to bad mouth other platforms that I may not be using right now either.
I don't expect you to change your tune and stop spouting what you like to spout, however, I do hope that you may be able to recognize that you're stating your opinion and you're not somehow smarter than everyone else that prefers iOS because you chose android. I write that because it APPEARS to be a recurring flavor to your posts, like above. People that choose iOS didn't all do so out of some sort of mass ignorance that so many here would have some believe, not that you said or implied that (as others here like to do). Some people don't want to molest their phone's OS to get it to work well for them, nothing wrong with that.
