I got an Android, but want to go back to the iPhone. Why is this?

One reason , I went with Android is because of "bang for the buck".

I am honestly tired of Apple's half-a**** updates.

I had an iPod Touch and the ironic part is it didn't get Siri (ok , I simply don't care about siri , so I don't give a flying duck !) but they excluded basic things like voice dictation in the name of siri , wtf ? Even froyo phones can do that basic thing right from start but iPad 2 or iPhone 4 or iTouch 4th gen can't do.....

They kept releasing such kind of lame updates more and more like excluding "facetime via cellular" to older devices and they are such basic features. That really killed off my thoughts on getting an iPhone even though I want to get it.Tomorrow they will exclude users from getting things like offline-maps or offline-dictation because they want to limit the older device users. So , No , I don't want those lame updates.

iOS 7 basically slowed down and also very incomplete experience for my iPad 3 compared to iOS 6.x , I will try 7.1 update today. My device became obsolete in 1 year time (bought in 2012 and thanks to iOS 7 which ruined the whole experience with such an incomplete work done because polish is missing in various places).

Android tablets are also very bad and on other side , I just wish Apple doesn't make such bad decisions when making updates.

Once apps were of golden quality on iPad and iOS , now all apps are infected with In-app-purchase design model ruining the whole experience.I spent more than $150 for apps but now more than half of them are riddled with those IAPs.

Does Android has polish ? No but it offers trade-off such as customization , larger screens , sideloading apps for beta testing/trying them out from developers and also modded games , set default apps etc. No need to jailbreak or root for many basic things.

Well, that is certainly one perspective, even if unique amongst the millions upon millions upon millions of happy iOS customers.

And the numbers keep increasing, as more switch from Android to iOS than vice-versa. At least in the U.S.

Well, iOS isn't growing as fast as Android and Android is not growing as fast as WP.

I think what matters is, whether one is happy with his or her device or not.

That is all that matters.

That is the truth but, some can't help have their ***** measuring contests when it comes to their favorite platform.

The thing that I never can understand is why some think it important to make one platform appear better than another. Some have even articulated 'hatred' towards some platforms. That truly seems like wasted energy.

I chose android initially because I just wanted a way to check my email when I was in high school. Now I know so much about technology (after watching hours of tech reviews on YouTube on my first android phone the Samsung Gem on Verizon), that android is still the clear choice for me. Android is for me most of all is the ability for apps to talk to each other. No other operating system (BB10 offers it mostly but not as much as android) has the intents and defaults like android. I love the fact I can have different home screens, icons, and if I really want to, different call screens and contact applications. I also love I can fine tune my preferences for everything as well. Android I think is for anybody who wants a more personal touch for their smartphone, iOS for a more hands off simpler experience but with all the apps you can want, WP for those who want simple but don't care for the extra bells and whistles (apps mostly) like other operating systems, and BB10 for those who value a more email and productive device. All of the 4 major operating systems have their strengths and weaknesses and there might more pros than I listed. But this is my personal deductions about the operating systems.

They are a bunch of insecure fanboys. Go to outside world, people don't even care much.

They just need bunch of apps like Facebook, messengers, temple run, candy crush etc. My aunt for example, didn't like her Lumia, So I gave her my iPod touch 3rd Gen, which is collecting dust, to her, so that she can play candy crush. She couldn't be happier. She didn't rant about WP in forums or to me.

Instead, She tried to solve her problem and now she is so happy. In Internet, people dont solve their problems. Instead, they bash other platforms.

Edit :

One guy even posted a page why people buy galaxy s4. This guy had nexus but he took time and created that post. What that told me is the fact that he is raged that nobody around him are buying the beloved Nexus. So he wanted to bash S4 and to get support from a bunch of Nexus fans who feel superior and elitist for using stock android.

Exactly like sports and god fans.

I know. Just responding to someone else.

I said something because arguments about religion can and will drone on
and escalate. Some can even argue or fascination (read:obsession) with a specific operating system can be similar to a religion itself.

Thanks for figuring that out amongst yourselves. Lets all try to keep things on topic :)

some people like things streamlined at the expense of capabilities (Apple)

Others want as many options as possible at the expense of possible fragmentation and lack of cohesiveness.

It's that simple why Such a long discussion over personal preferences?

Because people like you generalize too much. Your post was generalizations and then people point out your inaccuracies, you counter, they counter and now this thread is super long.

The first part yes i generalized a lot just to keep things brief. The ending statement about how it's all a choice to completely true however. People should get over things like this.
