I got an Android, but want to go back to the iPhone. Why is this?

some people like things streamlined at the expense of capabilities (Apple)

Others want as many options as possible at the expense of possible fragmentation and lack of cohesiveness.

It's that simple why Such a long discussion over personal preferences?
Thats what forums like this are for.

A lot of people use forums like this to inform purchasing decisions. I've done it several times myself in the past. Not everyone agrees why one platform is better than another and not everyone knows the drawbacks of each platform...even drawbacks that might be obvious to phone nerds. I've learned a lot of stuff about both iOS and Android through discussions like this.

This being an android forum and all we can only infer that those coming here are leaning heavily towards android, for the most part. So it really seems it should only come down to which is the best android phone for a particular person. ...and that will depend on what their priorities are...just to articulate the obvious. I think I still prefer (as far as android goes) the compromises the G2 makes and look forward to seeing its successor.

Yeah you would think so. But I have seen a LOT of Apple defenders on here. Certainly far more than I have seen Android defenders on Mac forums. Apple forums feel like a cult to me.

I actually really like the G2. I am just not all that confident in LG's support. I had the Spectrum and they totally dropped the ball on that phone.

I could live with the button placement probably, and their hardware is outstanding.

I have seen more Apple supporters than I thought I would see on an android forum. I also avoid Apple forums as well, the cult status and the fact that they are very boring. I visited imore forums and was so bored I left quickly.

There nothing wrong with being an Apple enthusiast, one just doesn't need to belittle Android or other platforms to do so.

I agree, though Apple enthusiasts tend to belittle other operating systems than not, so Apple fans end up getting a more negative name.

Well, I don't know know enough 'Apple enthusiasts' to speak in general terms really but there are good and annoying supporters of all platforms I'd imagine.

I actually kinda like that. I don't want a Cheerleader forum. I like diverse opinions.

On Apple forums (and I have been on a few) it is mostly Apple people patting each other on the back congratulating themselves on what wonderful choices they made, and how awesome the Apple lifestyle is. Any criticism at all is met pretty viciously. They do not care if you do not use foul language, they don't care if you are not name calling...any criticism is seen as the same thing as foul language or name calling. It feels like a cult in the literal sense.

And to be fair, I did see some Apple users who were rational. Some of them actually defended me. They were not all like that. but they were mostly like that. It usually ended up in a ban of some kind. The moderators were often in on it.

That is true. Nexus fans can be just as bad.

I'm glad this forums is diverse too. You see a lot more opinions.

It goes both ways, really.

An AC moderator once labeled the words "Your proximity sensor doesn't work?? Samsung...why?" not only as trolling, but as severe trolling worthy of an"infraction" because they came from a member he/she doesn't care for. People are people and have their preferences, no matter what side of the fence they're on and speak to those. Being neutral can be hard for many. I still can't speak for Apple enthusiasts in general like you guys have but I have heard they're a loyal, irrational, and "sheeplike" crowd so what should one expect? I've also heard here that auto-enthusiasts can be the same way.

Apple people tend not to be tech saavy...not all of them, just MORE of them. It is a lot more common. So they develop a brand loyalty in favor of Apple.

When you ask them what specifically is better most of them can't tell you. That has been my experience. They like the way Apple products look and feel. They like how trendy they are. And yes, they do like that they are generally more intuitive (not always but generally). They are buying their products for reasons other than the utility of the product.

And I think that explains the difference I have seen in Mac forums. It is not a place to discuss technology, it is a club. And criticizing Apple products is the same thing as criticizing the club, and it annoys them.

At the end of the day it's a preference battle. Why do people have Honda versus a Toyota? You can drive to the same places.. Simple.. Preference.

I've tried both sides of the fence.. Android's customization is simply more attractive to me than the simplicity that iOS provides users (the "it just works" tag).

I also still support both.. My parents have iPhones so I still get to tinker with them from time to time.. And showing my Mom how to take photos.. Multiple times.. Ugh. Lol :D.

Care to share more with on this with me in a PM I'll be glad to listen. However taking to the forums to discuss moderator actions past or present is against forum rules & guidelines no matter how you wish to paint it.

I always hated when cars are compared to phones. It detracts from the argument for me.

Well as my post said there is no real argument as it's a preference thing.. No one is wrong for liking one over the other. If they say it fits them better.. No one can change that :).

I think cars are used because they're something most can relate to.

Not everyone is car savvy enough to always get those analogies.

I'd be safe to say most consumers have heard of Honda and Toyota :).
