I got the update!

Updated my phone shortly before 9PM CDT here in Spring Hill, TN. Download took less then 5 min and the installation was about 5-7 minutes. Installation successfully completed and all looks good so far.

The 3G/4G toggle is there, the Data widget is there. Now, I sure hope there are some hidden battery fixes in there as well.

Give me 1 week and we'll see how it's going regarding battery usage and other issues.:)

I didn't think this upgrade was supposed to do anything (good or bad) to battery life, I thought Gingerbread was going to help (a little) on battery life - am I wrong?

Hangs while downloading? Took me well over 15 min to download on 4G. Entire process was over 20-25 min total. I can imagine on 3G it would be quite a while.

I did mine on home WiFi in about 5 minutes. Someone reported a LONG download over 3G.

I've updated my phone (one of 4), but my wifes phone has the disappearing status box so i'm unable to update hers at this time. I believe her phone has the reboot issue also. Have yet to check my son's phone's. I think we're two for 2 as for the T-Bolt issues go, mine being one of the better ones.

Try again and let the screen come back - don't cancel out or leave.

I did that and nothing... still doing the samething

after i updated my phone, the phone rebooted and when i unlocked my phone, there was a screen that prompted me to click OK or CANCEL, i did not read the entire message, does anyone recall what that message said?

thanks

You agreed to a life time contract with every possible added feature and full level of all services at full price. If you break the contract they break you.

I am thinking back to the Southpark episode of the Human Centipad when one of the kids agrees to update the iTunes but in the Agreement Terms, they agreed to become a protoype to be a human centipad by accepting the update, which of course they did not read!

I updated my new and unmodified Thunderbolt last night while on a 300-mile drive with my wife who also has an older Thunderbolt that we didn't upgrade. My upgrade took 40 minutes with what appeared to be a solid 3G connection. There was a second upgrade notice after a first reboot. I downloaded a second time and that was followed by a second reboot.

We had been watching Google Navigation on both phones prior to the update. Map changes and voice announcements had been almost perfectly synchronized between the two phones prior to the upgrade. Following the upgrade navigation on her phone continued to be smooth and continuous, but not on mine. My maps would freeze for several seconds and then jump ahead erratically. Voice announcements on her phone were sometimes two or three seconds ahead of mine, but on occasions were simultaneous as they had been before.

GPS Status is installed on my phone. Since the update, GPS Status shows satellites coming and going randomly. Sometimes they all disappear for a few seconds and then build again as when initially starting GPS.

If GPS is important to you, I suggest you think twice, or maybe three or four times, before updating.

An e-mail from HTC I received at the beginning of this month indicated that the upcoming update would "address the reboot issue, and bring the Gingerbread 2.3 upgrade on board, as well as several other enhancements." From what I've read in this thread, the new OTA does not include Gingerbread. Anyone heard what the plans for Gingerbread are?

It hasn't finished baking in the oven yet. Get it, baking in the oven? 'Cause it's Gingerbread! Okay, that's a really bad joke.
In terms of where Gingerbread is, your guess is as good as everyone else's. However, now that we have some official MR2 goodness, the Developers will do some neat stuff to this and you could possibly be looking at some new ROM's based off this update that will be super stable. We'll see what the next couple of weeks hold for the Thunderbolt...

I'm getting the exact same behavior. In GPS status I show 8 sats then they will all disappear, then 3, then nothing etc.,etc..

My GPS was better/more reliable before the update(running launch software

as far as battery life, it seems the same or worse, certainly not better(for me)

*sigh* My phone is still make the "Checking for new software" box disappear before it finds anything. -_- I really wanted to have this update installed before I go to work today, but considering I have to leave in about an hour, I guess that's not happening.

Grabbed mine this morning. The download failed three times, so I rebooted (ironic?) And got it on the fourth try. So far, all is well.
