By G-E-O-R-G-E ! I think you've got it! Yes, I think that's the new item they were trying to describe.That may be true, but Verizon didn't say they giving a tabbed app drawer. They said a tabbed App Menu. Go to Manage Applications. Not sure that it wasn't tabbed before as I rarely ever went in there.

Hah, at least you get an error message. I'd settle for that, over just having the "Checking for new software available now" box disappearing without any kind of information as to why or whether or not it found new software.

I'm not sure that it wasn't tabbed before either....Oh well, neither one (drawer or menu) is a big deal to me anyway.
I have been trying to DL the update on my mom's Thunderbolt, but not having success. I am going to the software screen, hitting check new, the dialog box appears that says checking for new updates, there appears to be data transfer but then the box goes away. My Thunderbolt, found the update first try.
She is running 1.12.605.6 software currently.

I am having the same issue with my TB. It says checking then goes away. Last night it would stay on that screen forever then say service unvailable check again when service is available. I thought it might be network traffic overload. Seem they could send you a message saying that though if it was the case...
Try downloading the OTA update after setting your phone to 1X...perhaps a problem with 3G/4G
