I got the update!

Not sure if people have already chimmed in on this, but I just downloaded the update and now I can remove the Friendster bloatware from one of my home screens. Prior, I was not able to remove this nor the HUGE default clock HTC put on this thing. Resulted in me having to move them to one of the last pages I dont use.

The DL took about 8-10 minutes. When it finished downloading it didnt do anything. I let it sit for almost 10 minutes more. Then I was about to manually restart it, it powered down and rebooted. Showed a funky green icon that it was doing something for about 4 minutes. It rebooted one more time and it was complete. A crap load of notifications popped up for various apps, but everything seems to be normal. :D

PS: Does anyone know if the bloatware is able to be removed completely now with this new update?

Pretty sure you just got the MR2 update. Not sure why you wouldn't have been able to remove Friendster and the Clock widget before, should have always been able to just drag them to the bottom of the screen to the trash icon. As far as bloatware removal, no.

I actually already updated about a month or so ago when that OTA came out. For some reason the trash can was dithered when I attempted to remove Friendstram before. I gave up trying to remove it thinking an update down the road would eventually let me remove it all. After this update I thought Id try it again, and the trash was available for me to trash it. Weird. *scratches head*

This is why I think a lot of the reboot issues are related to the installation. Luckily you didn't get too impatient and manually reboot it in the middle of the installation, but I'm sure a lot of folks did. It makes sense to me that this could be why we see such a variation in reboots verses no reboots. Not only on MR2 but also on the MR1 installation.

Oh... and... those Widgets have always been removable. Perhaps you were doing it wrong? I dunno...

Your theory seems highly feasible as I can see many people getting inpatient having to wait thinking something went wrong. As for the removal thing, I know Im not that crazy, but I was able to remove anything else I wanted to before, except the Clock and Friendstream widget. In either case, its all good now. Thanks for the info.

That is odd, first I've heard of that one. Whatever the case, glad it's cleared up for you now!

I still haven't received the update. I'm not rooted, nor did I install any linked update. I'm 100% stock and everything works fine, minus the far and very few reboots.
Same here, no update even if I check. Whatever. Im Rooted and ROM'd with Das Bamf 1.8 Remix and the phone is rock solid with great battery life.
