I have a G4, you have questions — ask away!

based on those 4 photos (G4 vs S6), I think the S6 is clearly the winner.... but can't really be 100% sure unless I see the pics in original resolution(not at 1920x1080)

thanks for posting them! :)

You need to click on those picture and view them full screen. I you look at the one of the police call box you can read the little sign on the door from the one made with the G4. The one from the S6 is a little fuzzy reading the text. It is clear the G4 is the winner.

The G4 gives more of a bokeh look to me. If you look at the background the needles in the background have a lot of detail on the S6, while the G4 kind of blurs them out. The S6 seems to give a balanced focus that takes the whole scene into consideration. The G4 seems to focus on one point a little better. Looks like they handle focusing a little differently. Not that I think one is better than the other. I prefer the G4 photo, but I don't think it's necessarily technically better.

Thank you for answering my and many other questions! One last for me, does that notification toggle "Interruptions" change between something like All, Priority and None? I would like that.

Yep, works exactly as you described.

Russell, Thanks for doing this. Any HDR and low light photos compared with the S6?

Here's a low light shot, S6 vs G4. The lighter shot (not to be confused with better) is Samsung.

MKBHD mentioned in his hands-on video that the glossy trim around the sides is metal? I haven't seen anyone else mention this, so I assume he was incorrect and that it is in fact just plastic. Can you clarify please?

Pretty sure its plastic. Not magnetic and was covered in the adhesive that usually comes with chromed plastic.

We know the back is available in leather, but are the sides of the phone made of plastic or metal like in the Galaxy S6?

Colors look better on the G4 here. Both have a lot of noise. Looks like the G4 has more smearing. However, it is important to note that the G4 alows RAW capture (which means better control over noise vs. smearing) and also seems to have better manual/pro settings, so starting to think maybe the G4 for me....

Hi Russell!

Apart from these camera and screen features, any new stuffs from LG? I'm talking about the features from LG's software itself.

Like the glance view from Flex2, and some of the features introduced back then, does g4 comes with those? Knock features are there, that's all I know.. It is kinda disappointing for me tho, that apart from the camera (some say better, some say worse, compared to s6) and the quantum dot tech, there's nothing else to excite about..

There's a lot of small refinements, and yes some of the G Flex 2 settings have moved over. I'll be digging in deeper tomorrow, starting with this.

Thanks for the reply. Will wait for more, meanwhile its 10am here, means i'll either wait till tonight or tmr morning (my side) to see your reply. haha

Does the setting uses GPS? If yes, doesn't it means it'll sacrifice the battery for the use of smart settings?

How's overall camera performance?

I know it's a pre-production unit, so I'm withholding judgement, but I wanna see how it stacks up against the S6 and One M9.

The S6 has an excellent camera and I'd like the G4 to at least match that. The G3 had an excellent camera.

Also, how's the screen quality compared to the G3 and S6? Is the phone fast?

it's OK, you can call it better ... the S6 camera is a beast. on another level

Still trying to justify that premature purchase? Samsung pulled an Apple and all of a sudden we've got Samsheep all over the farm. How about we let the pros review the G4 first and then let the amateurs feel guilty for pulling the trigger in April rather than June?
