I have a Nexus 4, you have questions. Fire away.

no bro just have juice defender ultimate..

it turns out that i am being affected by a known issue, code.google issue 40065

https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40065

turns out that google has been made aware of this in november of last year, is a phone fault with the 4.2.x software on the nexus handsets.

is this not something that i should have been made aware of before getting the handset?

i am pissed :/

You may want to try a factory reset. Can work wonders. I'd do that before asking for a new phone.

Hi there mate, hopefully you can answer the big question for me 8gb or 16gb? Basically, here is my situation so I can get some feedback; medium to heavy user but mainly for texts, calls, web-browsing and a bit of app use....not many games, at least not the hardcore, just a few fun games plus productivity apps....I might listen to some music but depending on google play and stuff i have a walkman that does this brilliant! basically, what do you think? i dont want to unnecessarily waste money and storage if the 8gb should be enough, i have read alot about his cloud storage...is it easy to set-up...can you access the cloud quickly??? its really from the point of view of convincing my folks to let me buy it off the google play store....would 8gb be enough based on what ive said! texts, calls, medium browsing, medium apps, medium games...would use camera a bit but there is cloud for that....what exactly can i store on the cloud? sorry but you did say to fire away!

16! You can store pictures, music, files (docs, etc), etc in the cloud... what you cannot store, is Apps. They take up space, especially games. Stock Android is a pretty small file, but with 8 extra GB for $50, I'd go that route instead of filling up 8 to find out you would have wanted more. Good lucks!

will factory reset cause all my game progress deleted...can I backup everything? from doing rest?
You can back things up with Helium if you are not rooted or Titanium backup if you are rooted. Some games store their saved game status in a folder, so you could copy all of your phone contents to your computer then copy the files back after reset but I can't guarantee that.

Dear Brad,

I haven't yet found an easy way to export contacts (or data generally) from my BlackBerry to my desktop (which I assume I must do before transferring to Gmail, yes?).

However, as I said yesterday, the process of directly transferring through Bluetooth seems to be remarkably easy, and it works perfectly well until the very last stage, which is where I need your help.

That stage, is the point where my Nexus 4 asks (briefly) for confirmation that I want to accept the file. But then I don't see where I am supposed to click to accept - and therefore the notification vanishes after a few seconds, after which the incoming file is rejected. (However the BlackBerry indicates that the transfer is taking place, although the Nexus subsequently shows that it has been rejected).

In other words, how can I confirm the acceptance of a file being downloaded through Bluetooth?

I really will be ever so grateful for your help.

Stephen

Hey Stephen, I just did this yesterday on my wife's BlackBerry torch, so I can tell you how I did it. This was going to a HTC One which used a similar process. I was able to do the contacts and text messages but the calendar didn't transfer, so I had to export it using the BlackBerry desktop. I think this should also work for your contacts.

Plug in your phone then run BB desktop. There is an option to export to Outlook.

Thanks a lot, Brad.

Unfortunately, I don't use Outlook and that's the point ? it seems to be easy to export to Outlook, but not as any other kind of file.

It sounds as though you didn't manage to reproduce the demand for verification of the download on the Nexus ? or did you? When you downloaded, did the Nexus not ask you to confirm acceptance of the download? If you did, just how did you do it?

Thanks again for bothering. I'm really troubled by this!

I didn't use my Nexus for the bluetooth transfer as my wife was using the blackberry. I used her HTC One to transfer. I was prompted on the blackberry to accept the connection from the HTC One phone. I said okay and everything transferred with the exception of the calendar which gave me an error. That's why I had to do that using BB desktop.

I do recall backing up her bb a while ago where I was able to export the contacts to a csv file but the new version of bb desktop appears different.

I did some searching and it appears that you can export to a csv file but you have to use bb desktop version 6 or older. This will be your solution. See this thread http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Bold/exporting-contacts/td-p/1840265

First post, I hope I'm posting this in the proper thread...
I'm replacing my iPhone 4 (AT&T 2 gig data plan unlimited calling) with a Nexus 4 later today (out for delivery on UPS). The sim-card should fit right? My AT&T contract isn't up until Nov.. I plan on checking into t-mobile and etc. then.

Just bought first smartphone, and I'm from the days of instructions manuals. Are there any complete ones... for Nexus 4 or Android 4.2.2?
Most recent question: How many attempts do I have before Pattern locks me out? If someone, even a child, gets it and plays with it, but I get it back, how do I get into it?

If the security blocks you the worst thing that will happen is you will have to login to your Gmail account and reset it.

I have the following questions.

I always put up photos for all my contacts so that while i call them or they call me, i get a photo of theirs displayed. Am gonna buy a google nexus 4. So need some clarifications before hand.

My questions are
> What is the size of the contact photos while setting them ? And their size while we get an incoming call. In pixel or equivalent. Is it possible to have a full screen photo for incoming calls. (for resizing my images accordingly)
I hope you get what am saying.

> Battery - how would you rate it ?.

> Whats the default android version in it ?.

I will help you with 2nd and 3rd question

Battery rating: 3/5 in my opinion, 3-4h screen on time.

Default android version is 4.2.1 on mine from february 2013. But immediately when turned on updated to 4.2.2

It will get all of the updates (4.3, 5.0, etc) as long as the hardware can support it.

I have a nexus 4 and it recently stopped taking screenshots. The buttons work just fine by themselves, but when I press them together it doesn't take a screenshot.
I also just realized, the power button doesn't turn the phone off, it just locks and unlocks
