I have a Nexus 4, you have questions. Fire away.

Hello all,

Probably my question is a little bit silly, but I cannot determine the correct statement about it. On my N4, sometimes the Wifi and/or cellular icon is changing to a color grey. I read some explanations about the symptom, but I definitely can say that not a router issue (in case of wifi usage, for cellurar really don't know), because at home, most of the time it is blue with a strong signal but sometimes not.

Can anybody explain me why it is doing that? Or what is the explanation?

Thanks in advance!

When the signal bars (Wifi or mobile) turn grey, it means you are connected to a network, but you have no internet connection through that network.

More specifically, it means the phone can't reach Google+.

The letters next to your cellular indicator are standing for the connection protocol using by the phone.

E means EDGE, G means GPRS, H for HSDPA, 3G is 3G. If nothing there at all it means that nothing is available, you are using simple GSM.

My nexus 4 has given me this weird alert sometimes: Presidential Alert. Test SamSung 919-02, this message is free of charge. Any idea on what it is?

1. How do a save pictures from emails?
Tap the picture, should open into "full screen", then tap the menu button (three dots in the top right corner) and select save.
2. Can I emptly the email recycle bin?
No, you still have to do that on a computer for some reason.
3. Can I put a deleted email back from the recycle bin into my inbox?
Yes. Check the little check box next to email in the trash, then click the labels icon (second from the left), in the change labels screen check the box where you want it to go.This is with the stock Gmail app.

G is GPRS (1G), E is Edge (2G), 3G is 3G, H is HSPA, and H+ is HSPA 21 or 42.

any help much appreciated.

Hello

First off, I must say that I contacted Nexus Support today and got amazingly good service from them.

I have created a thread here for my issue. Basically, when I'm at home, and my phone goes to sleep, it screws up the Gmail app to the point where notifications do not appear, push does not work and email tests from my hotmail account fail to make it to the Nexus 4 Gmail app entirely.

I think I know the answer, but does anyone here have any insight or other workarounds for this so-called "Nexus 4 stops responding to ARP requests when screen is off with WiFi on" bug? Please see here, here , and here for detailed discussions of this issue. frenziedfemale gave me a good suggestion, and that is to switch to another mail app to manage mail, something I'll try late tonight.

I'm basically just trying to avoid reading through this entire thread. Is there another solution I'm missing?

One question, in battery widget reborn I can see ''Battery is usually fully charged in 3h 10min''

so LG says it's 2h needed to fully recharge N4. I am using stock AC..is something wrong or?

Hi Chubb, Thanks for answers. I'm using the stock email app as supplied on the phone and not gmail, so I can't find things like a labels button? Also, tapping the picture or tap and hold has no effect at all. Any more ideas?

I'd like to buy an unlocked N4, use StraightTalk (T-Mobile SIM) and tether to a N7. Will I be able to do this out of the box for free? Will it require me to root it first? Is tethering even an option since this is a prepaid plan?

Nexus 4 comes unlocked. No you do not have to root it first. I have tethered my nexus 7 to my nexus 4 with no issues. (ST ATT)
