I have an EVO ...

well I can't see why he wouldn't be annoying there is a big difference between a glass and plastic screen. Also taking into consideration that I can't remember the last phone where HTC didn't use glass I highily doubt that this is any different. I would assume its the exact same screen as the HD2 which we all know is glass.

Wait, that isn't true. HTC Hero used a plastic screen.

I just got off the phone... they took a poll over at the store. 6 think it's glass and 3 think it's plastic. I should have tried to take a key to it before :)

They all agree tho, it def has the oleophobic coating that the other HTC devices has. The smudging is minimal when using it and easy to come clean.

I Had the whole line up of HTC phones and this is by far the best one yet..Im loving the 4.3 inch screen and having Droid 2.1 with HTC Sense as the OS...good job guys.. Definitely one of the best phones on the market!!!

Never mind, I stand corrected... It is glass now that I am expecting it. I thought it was a composite to be honest (where the capacitive part was glass and the covering was a Lexan covering of the capacitive, doesn't matter, whatever I thought, was clearly wrong)

Therefore, I can only say the EVO would be glass. I will have to check it out again this week, buddy is coming over for a visit and I don't have to haul over to him.

The Hero screen is glass. The Incredible screen is Gorilla Glass, straight from HTC"s mouth. The HD2's screen is glass. There is no reason to believe the Evo 4G is not glass. The only phones with plastic screens are (1)resistive or (2)cheap hardware, like budget Android phones (HTC Tattoo) or Palm Pre/Pixi. This is not even worth discussing or asking, the screen will obviously be glass. It's an AAA phone, and all HTC's other AAA phones are.

I know, read above.

I've owned 8 different cell phones this year alone, I am allowed to goof. It's ok... breathe... it'll be ok. I promise. Sun will rise tomorrow and life will be good.

for the slow charging: are you charging through a USB cable hooked to a computer or to a wall socket?

I think he said he was wall charging, but for anyone with a Hero, I find that charging is slower compared to other devices (especially webOS/iPhone, but that's almost 2/3 the batt. capacity) regardless of charging method.

doc - I agree on webos. If this thing had webos, it'd be the best device on the market by far. (Well, with a few changes: 1. allowing microphone access to apps, and 2. allowing file I/O to apps)

*Did either of you try the EVO with headphones? How's the sound quality and bass? There were issues with the Hero being mono audio when it was initially released. I'm assuming no issues with the EVO with this,eh?

Having a BlackBerry..

I can't believe how fast he switches programs with no lag!!It seems so fluid.

Try that on a BlackBerry with out getting the hour glass a couple of times.

Oh don't even get me started on that hourglass. I've had my Curve for a year now and it pisses me off how many times it lags handling apps.

Viewing the Screen in Daylight

Hi Guys,

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.

My current SE phone is unusable outside during the day. I have ordered an Evo but might go with an Incredible if Evo can't be used outside. How does the Evo's screen show up in daylight?

TIA
Walter

My only question\request is:

-How does the 720p video recording in "good" to "Excellent" lighting look, does anyone have a sample video on Youtube?

I have had not a single hourglass or lag issue with any apps on my Bold 9700, however I'm sure the evo blows it out of the water.

You will almost certainly get better performance outside with the EVO than with the Incredible. The reason is that the EVO has an LCD screen while the Incredible has a newer AMOLED screen. The AMOLED looks better (according to some) indoors. However, it is almost unuseable outside. The LCD will be washed out some, but should still be useable.

Summary, EVO all the way.

And the AMOLED is in short supply, which is why Incredible supply is out. Might benefit EVO sales in the end if AMOLED supplies continue to be tight. It's harder to create AMOLED with no pixel flaws. Has a higher fail rate in factory.

There currently is NO HTC phone that uses gorilla glass. I repeat the Incredible is ABSOLUTELY NOT using gorilla glass...
