Unistalling the security master app worked for me too! I am just using Lookout for now. I dont need 2 of the same type of app.

Anyone who has this problem, put your phone into safe mode, make sure your settings are correct. Have someone text you. If your problem is gone, you have installed an app whose permissions are silencing your phone. If you still do not get notified, get a warranty ticket started as stated above.

Just figured this out...
1. Go to settings on your phone (not app)
2. Go to Notifications
3. Go to Advanced
4. Scroll down until you find your message app
5. Click on the app
6. Check your settings for each one. A lot of mine said "silent" or "medium" importance so it wouldn't play a sound.

3. Message+ or your messages app
4. Storage
5. Clear Cache
6. Notifications
7. Under categories adjust sound setting importance.

Note: A hands free device automatically turns on driving mode. If the setting is not adjusted for sound you will never hear alerts while device is on, even if driving mode is set to off!

I had the same issue on my S9+. Problem is the Samsung messaging app. Switch over to the Verizon Messaging app (if that is your provider) much better imo.

I had the same problem, no sound on text messages. I discovered the volume setting under Sounds and Vibrations. My Notifications was somehow set to silent. To fix this:
Go to:
1.Settings:
2. Sound and Vribrations
3. Volume
Check all volumes on:
Ringtone
Media
Notifications
System

Worked! Thank you very much!
