This thing heats up too hot and for too long while doing anything on it. I'm thinking Google will prob patch it and under clock an already last place chip set. Better luck next year.

Sorry to hear that sucks. For me I haven't had any heat issues and I use my phone heavily for gaming/YouTube/Netflix/music/podcasts etc. I only notice it get pretty hot the first day when I was installing all my apps. Might be worth trying to get a replacement?

It gets warm, but not hot similar to my pixel 4/5.

Totally the opposite here. The chip has been excellent for a first time. I don't see any issues on my end.. connections are perfect for me and speeds are good and no heat issues but good luck with your next one

Seems like your experience is an outlier from everyone else's - you most likely have a defective unit, and may want to contact Google.

Also, every chip can be 'last place' or 'first place' depending on what specifically you are ranking. Personally I recommend ranking a phone by the net experience it offers in sum, not on how individual components perform in isolation on benchmarks (as that isn't how people normally use the phone), and imo Google isn't lacking in real-world power at all.

I had expected good performance, and am delighted about by how far that expectation was exceeded, which is incredibly encouraging for what 2022, 2023, etc could bring when their very first efforts are this strong.

Again, sorry for the issue you're having, but sounds like it's a issue specific to your device - or perhaps a software issue with an app.... Have you tried using it in safe mode, or from factory reset before installing apps that might be causing thermal issues due to not having been updated and optimized for Android 12?

Google never intended the tensor chip to be the most powerful or best chip in the market.

With that said, I have zero heating issues and I drive around with my phone plugged in and in direct sunlight while connect to Android auto in my car.

Have you tried any troubleshooting or just throwing out in the towel.

6Pro... Running very well. Phone seems to be 'settling' in. Display, excellent. Reception strong. Running LTE rather than 5G at the moment, strong speeds. Charging time, tolerable, says rapid, but slower than my Sammy's fast charging even with Anker 30w Nano II. Not getting hot or even warm to the touch. Getting used to the Pixel settings, some things are a little 'hidden' as not used to this Google design. Returned my trade in Sammy to VZ... my first Pixel, appears to be a winner.

Does it happen also in safe mode ? Could be a 3rd party app causing this .

The first setup of my phone it did this..... I was copying from my old phone, there were errors during the copy and everything, and it was hot as all get out. But, I received the patch, factory reset, went through the copy process again. Everything runs fantastic now

Thats sometimes the issue when copying things over

Strange I haven't had any heat issues with the Pixel 6 Pro at all. I don't game on the phone though, just normal day to day stuff, pics/social media/browsing etc

I haven't had any "over" heating issues on my Pixel 6 Pro either. Sometimes it gets just a little noticeably warm at times. Nothing I would classify as hot by any means.

my first day of having it (currently on day 3), my pixel 6 pro had battery drain, overheated to the point that it restarted itself; since then the phone hasn't overheated or restarted by itself, just has gotten warm from regular use (Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, or WhatsApp); and the battery life has gotten much better; with that being said, I think I may return it to; it just doesn't feel like a polished 1000$ phone; my iPhone 12 pro max still beats it in terms of battery life, running cool, and no app crashes (which have happened on the pixel 6 pro) and last but not least, face ID is so much better than the fingerprint scanner, at least for me, it's really effortless

I wonder if the OP might have fewer problems if 5G is turned off. If the 5G reception is poor, that might contribute to battery drain and heating as the phone tries to boost the signal.

Gotta try safe mode to rule out 3rd party apps also
