I have two icons at the bottom of my home screen that insist on combining into one icon.

At the bottom of my Home Screen I have a row of five icons: Phone, Messages, Chrome, Camera and Apps. Occasionally, the Chrome and Camera icons combine into one icon group. I have to open the group and move the icons back to their original positions. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Galaxy S7, Android 6.0.1

I've a SGs7 and I had this issue on Home screen too
[Messages+Phone or Contact+Gallery] together. I blamed
Marshmallow update, but was the "AoD=Always on display"

Responsible in part: I switched phones and carry my toy 1-month
on front left-Pocket. As we know the AoD is On 24/7: The apps
supposedly are-Closed but somehow the icons get activated

and merged in a single icon. I separated them & fix the
issue buying a phone holster with Belt-click: Post results
