Welcome to the Android Central forums, and congrats on your new phone.

in order to screen shot you will need to root your phone, after its rooted you can use apps like screen shotit , shootme (This may work on unrooted devices) or Drocap2 .

if you choose not to root you can also screen shot by using SDK tools

Good luck and feel free to ask questions

I'm a former BlackBerry user myself, and I don't miss it one bit! Welcome to Android and the AC Forums :)

Definitely lots to learn with the switch from BB to Android. I made the move just over a month ago and haven't looked back. Very friendly group over here (and a lot of us still hang out over at Crackberry on occasion also).

Welcome!

Shootme allows you to take a screenshot without rooting. Just shake your phone and voila!

Welcome to A/C.

Shootme is probably the best option. You have 3 different option to capture the screen. Shake, Shout and cover light sensor.

With ShootMe, you can also take a video of what your doing on your screen, downside is it does up to 10fps but better then nothing.

Thanks for the warm welcome... Good to see this after being a crackberry addict for so long I thought I would never leave...

As for the screenshot thing. I have yet to understand why I would want to root my phone but maybe someone can enlighten me on that ;) and aside from that... I downloaded the shootme app and it doesnt work on my phone. I know it probably sounds pretty trivial but I used it A LOT on my blackberry... or am I just looking for excuses to not like the android? haha :P I do however miss bbm :(

the reason Android does this is because of security, since anyone can write an app for the market its easy for someone with the ability to write an app that can monitor your screen by taking shots of it..... so if you want the ability to bypass this security you need to root....or like mentioned earlier you can use SDK to take screen shots.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow x bb user and crackberry addict. :) The shootme does not work on myTouch 4g also, maybe because myTouch it's a hard nut to crack (not like the other HTCs). I miss bbm also, but I use Yahoo mess now, or you can use any other im app. And I share my calendar by email. And to replace the list feature in bbm I use OurGroceries. Hope your transition well be smooth. It took me 2 week to get my way around android but I think is worth the effort. Cya around! :D

Yup I got yahoo on lock as well as various other IM clients but my brother..sister and alot of fam was on bbm so I think thats probably my biggest issue but it will be okay LOL Im now considering the mytouch 4g in my very near future.. Do you drop calls? I seem to drop alot on the slide and how is the picture quality? The slide quality is no where near what my bbm pix came out looking like... There again I was hooked to my bberry as obviously any other crackberry addict wouldnt understand... Im surprised that the slide doesn't autocorrect pictures like my blackberry did.. just wondering I guess if you have the same issue with the 4g and picture quality?

I haven't dropped calls, but the WIFI calling quality is kind of choppy. No issues on 3g-4g though.

If you are talking about the quality of the pictures you send or get through im, you can set the max size of picture (in options). The MMS limits you at 600kb, so it's useless. If you are talking about the quality of the camera, the pictures you can take can be awesome. It's pretty much the same principle like bb, just play with the camera features.

Im surprised that the slide doesn't autocorrect pictures like my blackberry did..
Hold the button halfway down to autofocus.
If you have more questions, you can PM me or Yahoo username: danperde
