I keep seeing duplicate contacts on my S7...

I keep seeing duplicate contact entries on my S7. It recently updated to the latest OS and it is horrible. Backing up contacts has always been a pain and continues to be so.

I see dups even after I've selected "Merge duplicate contacts" option from the "Contacts Settings" menu. This is so frustrating. This should not be difficult and yet, to perform a simple operation proves to be convoluted and confusing.

I'm using Gmail to backup my contacts. It's set to auto-sync, but I'm not seeing newer contacts displayed in my Gmail account. I'm also only showing my Google contacts to display on my phone.

Why does this crap have to be so difficult?

Contacts is a shambles on all android devices! It makes no sense whatsoever. You would think they would have that down pat by now!
If you go to contacts, more, contacts to display and choose device, that should lighten it up a little. You don't really need to see email addresses in the phone side of things..
