I like touch wiz Damn it!!!!!

Why do people care if it still looks like Gingerbread? If you get all the features of ICS, and Touchwiz, why do you care what OS it LOOKS like!? I think people who complain Touchwiz looks like GB are a little bit of Os snobs. I'll admit I'm a snob and love the latest and greatest OS, but who cares what it looks like....

If windows 7 had all the same features but the whole ui was plain black and white with old school pixelated text and windows, I wouldn't like it. Same reason why phones aren't made of flat blocks of plain white plastic with to curves or styling. But that's just my opinion. If you enjoy touchwiz, awesome. It certainly is functional as you say.

yeah. im more of a function-over-form person but i use my phone a lot and want the UI to look pleasing. hence why all of the main apps on my phone are 3rd party

Although TouchWiz lacks features of other launchers, I continue to use it mainly for the alphabetical list (not grid) view type available in the app drawer, with "hot keys" to jump to any letter. It's very intuitive and much easier than searching pages of icon grids. I'm not sure why other launchers don't have this option.

Don't know if my opinion is worth anything, but I've spent probably 15 minutes total using the S3 display models. All of my phones to date (EVO 3D, EVO 4G LTE) run Sense, so that's what I'm used to. I was able to navigate through the UI, change settings, etc pretty easily. I was pretty impressed, based on the user-input response, video clip previews, shortcuts to common feature settings and the useful info/icons on the notification bar. I only saw two things I didn't like:

1. Folder Creation. It is completely opposite from stock ICS.
2. The on-screen usable area. The screen is nicely sized, but lower row of icons combined with the screen navigation buttons(?), seems to take up too much space.

The only time I ever thought TouchWiz didn't impress me, was when I used it on the Galaxy Tablets. The performance lag was very noticeable and I felt the UI belonged on a phone and not a 10 inch tablet.

yeah i think jellybean will help the phone/tablet thing. it lets programmers code different UI for apps based on what device theyre run on so the apps know if theyr in a tablet or phone and automaticly use the relevant UI so hopefuly samsung will make use of this when they code the skin for JB

Frankly - having had an Infuse (Froyo/GB) with touchwiz, a Galaxy Tab 2 (ICS) with touchwiz, and now a Galaxy Nexus (JB) using stock Android... much prefer the stock experience. Touchwiz, sense, and all the other launchers/layers and whatnot should be an optional implementation that can be disabled by the user. They just get in the way.

I came from Sense as well. I think both have their up and downs. Dunno if it's a TW or ICS thing, but being able to swipe left to send a message or swipe right to make a call to a contact is really nice. Just wish the contacts app was a little more thought through. Like having an option to always activate the text box as soon as you open the app. Sense calendar widgets were much better admittedly. But the lock screen on TouchWiz is NICE! And the notification bar is SWEET! Overall TouchWiz is a good UI, it's just a matter of getting used to and maybe a little bit of polishing work that may come with JB.

i totally agree man but samsung seem to like to distance their phones from being ANDROID devices (same with HTC) they want to form their own identity. i dont mind skins as long as they add something nice (the nature touchwiz or whatever on the s3 does add some really nice things to android) and they dont take to many things away (the s3 is so fast that touchwiz probably doesnt slow it down much and i havent noticed any good settings options that are missing on touchwiz vs stock ICS)

Coming from Sense, touchwiz barely feels like it's there. It may or may not be true but it feels lightweight and unintrusive. The added Samsung widgets add value.

I used an older version of Touchwiz that left a horrible impression on me. I owned (and still do, unfortunately) a Samsung Droid Charge, one of the worst smartphones of 2011, and probably the worst of the medium end smartphones of Samsung last year. TouchWiz was sluggish, choppy, and had a homescreen redraw that would make you cry. This was on Froyo which I was tortured to use for about 7 months until the Gingerbread update. On top of all that, the colors used in TouchWiz for both Froyo and GB were horrendous. Samsung must have color blind people creating TouchWiz because it was a hideous mess that looked like poop. :'(

Imagine being in a text note app, pressing the home key because you want to play a quick game, but having to wait 40 seconds for your home screen to finish loading. Yeah, that's Touchwiz. It's a terrible phone with a terrible UI, the phone was so bad it forced me with no choice but to root and custom ROM it and use Go Launcher Ex. Now it's a lot better, but no matter what, I will never use TouchWiz for as long as I live, ever again. O:-)

With all the nonsense Sammy has been taking from Apple, I sure as heck hope they're able to pull off not only another major launch but have their next wave of newer devices ready to sell before Apple does.

Note 1 was a smash. Better than anything Samsung would've hoped for--just hope this time they release it for all carriers exactly like they were able to do for the S3. THAT would make Apples blood boil.

I don't agree that a problem with Touchwiz is how it creates folders. It's just another way of doing it. It's not a bad thing.

The only negative to Touchwiz that I see is the general lack if widgets and toggles. Coming from the OG Evo 4G it was something i had to get used to. Luckily I was able to find remedy for this in the market, however, I would still prefer if Touchwiz had it natively.

I have grown to really love touch wiz. I love the stock ics launcher but I hate that the Google search has to remain in the screen. Touchwiz is so much more uniformed. :)

Android Pro Widgets (APW) has a favorite contacts widget that is almost identical to the Sense widget, with one advantage: you can touch the Favorites and it opens up all your contacts. The HTC Sense widget had this at one point but lost it, at least it did on the ThunderBolt when it was upgraded to GB. I bought APW for this widget only; none of the other widgets were preferable to what I already use. I think it was about $2.50 for the version of APW where you can customize the organization of favorites. If you don't care about that, you can use the free version which lists the favorites alphabetically.

There is also a Favorites tab in the Contacts App that shows all your favorite contacts w pictures alphabetically arranged.
