HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
still no mic api, no bluetooth transfer, no future. it was a beta OS with some great ideas and no hardware to back up the idea.

Sorry, I'm still bitter about the 5 pre's in 5 months I went to.

You were just playing musical chairs with a bunch of broken Pres. Plenty of people had good phones from the start that stayed good.

Really? so all three of my gf's family pre's are flukes as well?

My Pre is launch day and the only thing that has messed up on it is that flimsy microusb latch. I was kinda glad when it finally fell off cause then I didn't have baby it anymore lol.

My Pre (and the ones my gf and brother have) is still from launch day and works perfectly. I pre-ordered the Epic 4G, but only because I thought it'd be fun to try Android out (have never used it). I figured I can go back to webOS if I still want in another year when maybe their app catalog has grown a bit more and the hardware is more current.

Just like anyone with anything, I am sure I will get used to Android after a couple days... but I will probably miss way multi-tasking works/cards.

Nah, things load so much faster in android, there is no need for a card interface. Thats the only positive I see with needing a card interface. Not wanting to throw away cards because it would take you forever to get back to where you were. Do your pre's ever just not ring? I can't get a hold of my gf sometimes because it just will not accept incoming phone calls. I have to leave a voicemail and wait for her to call me back. I've never had the problem in her house with the Hero, and its happened several times.

I haven't had that problem, no. I mean... not never, but no more often than with any cell phone. I don't think I've used a phone never let a call slip or something.

All of that and the above said, obviously I am moving on from webOS for a reason. I am bored with the hardware and very used to getting a new shiny toy every year. I am also a bit jealous of all of the apps and attention.

Not to derail this thread further, but since we're talking about webOS vs Android and all... how DOES multi-tasking work? Searching around, I get that if you hold a button you get the 6 most recent apps and all. That's fine. How do you close one? How do you get to one not in the most recent 6?

From my searching, it seems like you have to use a task manager for both of the above. If so, that's fine. Just seemed weird so I wasn't sure I was getting the right idea.

no, you can't access something further than the recent 6 (well you can, but i think its a 2.2 mod on N1, haven't seen it anywhere esle). You don't close an app unless it has the option in menu, which kills the process. Otherwise, the app is set in a paused state, ready to be recalled until more apps pile on top of it, or enough time has passed where the system doesn't need to run the app anymore. App switching is done by holding down the home button and the last 6 apps show up. Sure it may not seem as convenient as the pages, but with widgets, you don't really need to load a full app. They aren't just settings apps, you can use an ESPN app to get all your scores where you would usually need to open the browser or app for that (it is accompanied by an app if you want real-time gamecast), or stocks widgets (for those that follow daily), pretty much a widget exists for anything you want. I rarely open up any apps. There are even messaging widgets (highly recommend handcent).

Gotcha, thanks for the info. I am definitely interested in trying it out. For whatever reason, my Radio Shack receipt says they will have the phones on 8/20. I am sure it is a mistake, but secretly hope that is when inventory comes in and they will give it to me early... haha. :)
