AC Question

So, today i slipped, my knee is sore but what i'm worried about most is my brand new LG V10.

I have a spigen rubber armor case on it, and when i slipped it was in my hand. The phone or my hand didn't touch the ground but the g-forces that it have taken was pretty massive. (I'm not entirely sure if my hand didn't touch the ground, but im pretty sure the phone didn't)

But my wears is that can these kinds of bumps affect the overall performance of the phone? Everything works fine i guess, antutu scored 67119 points and i have check'd everything else for damage (vibrator, screen, speaker, headphone jack etc) all seems to work fine and nothing rattles inside.

How worry should i be that i damaged the internal components? I know, i'm a bit paranoid about my investments...

Hi there... Sorry you fell! And hope you don't take offense, but it has to be said: If what you're worried 'the most' about a fall that has your knee hurting is a phone, you NEED to re-think your priorities!

Now that we're done with that, I don't think you should be worried unless you see something blatant on your device (rattle, cracked screen, loose buttons...). The way these things are designed and tested will survive a human fall UNLESS it actually touches another surface, and most of the time, at the right angles (a drop from a chair with the phone hitting the ground with the very corner will do more damage than a fall from your height with the phone landing flat on it's back).

I wouldn't worry about it, again, unless you see something very obvious, and would go get that knee checked out. If you want to put numbers into it, a busted knee (and even more an uncared-for one) will end up costing way more than a replacement phone.

I have my phone in an Otterbox, but the same kind of rubber shock protection. A 3 foot drop from a counter to a solid wood floor, absolutely flat screen down, caused my heart more damage than it did to either the case or the phone (which suffered no damage at all). Those silicone rubber cases absorb a lot of shock.

Yep. Just had a 3ft fall onto laminate hardwood, the phone falling from the armrest of a couch and falling down faceflat. Fortunately, I had an Incipio Dualpro installed on my, V10 despite it falling face flat onto wood. Helps that the case only wraps around all but a tiny sliver of the metal rails so face down drops will only have the rails absorb the damage, not any other part of the phone.

All in all, I still wouldn't risk it even with the monster V10 being MIL-STD 810G tested. Gonna case this baby up to keep it looking fresh as the first day I unboxed it.

It should be fine I would think with a case that robust.

You might want to check the IR blaster too.
