On my previous Note 5 before my Note 7 I had a"my places" widget that I loved. when I connected to my car or when I arrived home or at the office I could customize my profiles. The Bixby quick commands takes this to another level. I use Bixby all day. And I love the dedicated button. It makes it that much easier to access. I'm so happy with the Note 8.

Wow! Love the enthusiasm! I love mine more and more everyday! I know you struggle with the back and forth of iOS and Android like me but I hope that like me your totally satisfied this time. For some reason it's totally different this time for me. Must be the beauty of this device. Really special. It's just more special then any other note I've had.

I did go back and forth a lot. But, I won't this time around and I am also very satisfied and excited about this smartphone. I have read alot of negatives regarding Bixby. I think they are undeserved. If the Bixby button were a Google button and performed exactly the same way people would love it.

Have to agree with you there. I just can't put this thing down!! All day long! Luv it

I also am finding Bixby to be a valuable tool. As one that drives a lot of the day, and the laws against touching the phone while driving, Bixby is a life saver. With my bluetooth headset I can listen to messages, place and receive calls, google something, or have it launch Audible and play a book, or choose music, it does just about everything without ever having to touch my phone. It even learns your voice and how you say things, I haven't had the problems I experienced with S Voice, it calls the right person every time. Many people have told me they hate it, I don't think they actually set it up and used it, because I don't see what there is not to love.

Bixby is by far the powerful assistant if you want to manage your phone. It has many commands and the current integration with 3rd party apps are also really good.

I'm loving Bixby from afar right now. I don't do a lot of voice commands.
My incoming texts are read to me through my vehicle, but I don't reply usually.
I would like to use Bixby to send a text tho. (My vehicle would do that, but I'm not buying that monthly subscription).
How does ole Bix do with sending texts? Google voice to text would work OK, but dropped as in 'Send a text to Daniel' And then sometimes, it would or it wouldn't.
Bix do better?

Bixby is fine until you have a British accent then half of the time it doesn't understand you and when it does it does it wrong.... sticking to Google assistant.
That can tell the difference between the right English pronunciations and not the wrong American way.

I have a funny little thing about my Bixby. I have the app Waze which is one of the coolest map apps that includes postings for watching out for cops and things on the road. Anyway for whatever reason when I say open Waze or even spell it, Bixby doesn't seem to know what it is about 95% of the time. So what I did was go into Quick commands find the one time it did work and just give it a goofy name I call it "map yo" and it brings it right up every single time it will bring up the regular map program that spilled into the phone and all sorts of other apps it just has a particular issue with Waze for some reason but it's more fun to say my silly phrase anyway.

It sends texts just fine for me.

I couldn't stand Bixby on the S8 so it got disabled. When I got the note 8 I figured I'd give it another try. I tried it for just over a week and I just can't find anything useful for it.

I don't change many settings in my phone and the ones I do are in the notifications drop down. For me that's much quicker. It seems like that's the primary use for Bixby.

Where Bixby would be beneficial is if it could work with my smart home devices like Google assistant does. I use that stuff alot.

Unless they can integrate it with my current smart home stuff, it's disabled and will likely stay that way.

It sends texts just fine for me.

The problem I have with texts is that it sends the message immediately after I dictate it, without giving me chance to verify the text Bixby has transcribed. There are often errors in the text and sometimes it even goes to the wrong person. It wasn't always this way. At first Bixby gave me chance to verify the message. It stopped doing that at some point.

Question: Do you know how I can get Bixby to let me verify the message before sending?

I tried it a few times and just don't see the value over Google native services. I like Google messenger as well and it doesn't seem to integrate with that. I would much rather have the button open up Google Assistant

I just don't see the need for Bixby. I don't drive very far and I don't switch phone toggles or settings on or off that often. I don't see the need for Bixby.

I'm another one that does not like or use Bixby and have since remapped the button to something more useful. I can see it being useful if you need to use your phone a lot in the car but since I don't I have no use for it. I much prefer playing with my phone with my hands at home or at work. And at work it would just be weird constantly talking to my phone around co-workers! I use Llama to automatically have the phone program different profiles and actions in the phone based on location or condition. I have Tasker as well but it was just too complicated to bother to learn to use.

I have an Indian accent and Bixby is able to understand what I speak. There are few instances where it misunderstands the word but I teach it and next time it gets what I meant.
