I want a Nexus But i got a Razr in the mail today

To get a phone knowing you intend to return it is really not appropriate behavior. It is no better than buying an outfit putting the tags back on and returning it.

I kind of agree. When I bought the Bionic, I had no intentions of returning it until, I had a few issues. I will admit, this did give me a excuse to return it and, wait on the Galaxy Nexus (the phone I really wanted). I thought, better to return it now, than keep it and, try to sell it on Ebay. Returning it, less the $35.00 restocking fee; is better than trying to sell it on Ebay, for half the price or a little more.

Having said that, I wouldn't buy a phone with the intention of returning it from the beginning but, that just me.

Ethics went out the window a long time ago. Verizon charges an arm and a leg for these phones and then your first born for the voice/data plan. If you want to give them some extra money, then by all means go for it. Personally I'd rather go buy a nice juicy steak with that restocking fee and wait.

Well,it's not like the returned phones end up in a landfill. After Verizon collects your $35 restocking fee they just inspect & recondition them for sale as "Certified Pre-Owned" devices. It's just too much hassle,IMO, to switch, switch back, then switch again.

If Verizon has a return policy that states you can return in this window for this reason then they know it will happen. Playing with a display in the store or using the device for a week in the real world are two different things. As stated the returns are cleaned up and used for replacements. Remember until they have these returned phones they are giving out new ones for warranty issues.

What would really be awesome is if FredBassett took the RAZR back for the GN, had the GN for a few days and decided he hated the GN compared to the RAZR! Oh he couldn't exchange it because he took advantage already of the return policy just because he was tired of waiting another week or two. Now that would be funny!

I keep going back and forth as well. For me, the biggest outstanding issue is what kind of signal strength the Nexus will have. My OG Droid had decent signal strength. When I broke it, I moved to the DInc2. I really liked the DInc2, but the signal strength (or lack thereof) drove me nuts. Both the Droid Pro and the Droid 3 have had signal strength AT LEAST as good as the OG Droid. I've had a chance to play with the RAZR both in the store and in the real world (thanks Ben), and the signal seems to be strong with that one as well. If there is one thing at which Motorola accels, it's making radios. My concern is that the Nexus will suffer the same signal problems as the DInc2 because, well, it's not a Motorola. Other than that, I'm much more of an AOSP guy, but I root my phones. The sealed battery is a non-issue for me. While I would prefer a MicroSD slot, it's not necessary. Oh, the tough choices....

The dinc2 is made by htc not samsung like the galaxy nexus. Maybe go see a charge and how the signal is with that.

My razr has minor signal issues. Maybe once or twice a day it'll drop data all together (first lte than 3g) despite full voice in a good area. Airplane mode doesn't fix, needs a reboot. Battery is acceptable for lte but nothing life changing. Its a good phone, but I'm craving AOSP and a Sammy 720P screen. If the razr was AOSP with NFC I'd keep it.

I did the same thing (bought the RAZR with the intention of returning it) but I've got to say that after a few days, I'm giving serious consideration to keeping it. I just love the form factor and build quality on this phone. It is slightly too wide for my taste/hand size, but I'm getting used to that. And the thinness is really cool. I actually love the don'tcallitBlur overlay. It's very understated and useful. The color theme is actually a bit like ICS. I'm getting good battery life out of it, it's got great reception and a great speaker (both of which you expect from Moto), and I really love the Smart Actions app. I know you can do all the same things with Tasker, but this one is so much more intuitive and simple. I have many more rules running on smart actions than I ever did on Tasker, just because they're so much easier to set up.

The one hardware downside for me is defintely the screen. While it's nice, it does have a bit of a green cast on low brightness, and you can really see the pentile 'screen door' effect - much worse than my Fascinate - on low brightness settings.

I think I'm going to keep the RAZR for a good month or so - see how the dev community develops. I've already got it rooted, which was super easy. I also want to read not just initial reviews of the Nexus, but see what people's real world use of it pans out like over the first few weeks. I'm going to have a tough decision on my hands either way.

I'm aware that the Galaxy Nexus is made by Samsung. I've read of similar issues with weaker signal strength/data connectivity with the Charge, but my point was that it was NOT a Motorola phone, not that the DInc2 and GN would display the same poor reception because they were of the same manufacturer.

You could add NFC to the RAZR by getting a microSD card with NFC built in. Bummer about the signal issues with the RAZR!

The RAZR doesn't have a PenTile screen.

I wanted to try the razr but the fact that it has a non removable battery killed it for me. I always use the extended battery for that extra life

If the Razr launched with ICS I would buy it now. I tried it out the other day and man I was impressed. Felt great in the hand, fast, and the screen really looked quite good to me. And its so damn thin! I don't care about a removable battery that phone is sexy. Still waiting for the Gnex though or maybe the GSIII...I'm a patient pesonr when it comes to electronics. When the time is JUST right I STRIKE(buy):-)

Considering you dont know anything about me, "what would really be awesome" is no business of yours! Checking out this forum once the nexus is released will help me make a decision on where my money should be, but thanks for the concern about my well being, its appreciated

Damn dude relax no need to get all postal over a post some guy wrote. People on these forums get so uptight over the littlest things. I would be afraid to see you people have something actually important in your life happen with how uptight you get over a phone. Relax take a breather, maybe grab a beer.
