I want a Nexus But i got a Razr in the mail today

To get a phone knowing you intend to return it is really not appropriate behavior. It is no better than buying an outfit putting the tags back on and returning it.

I've seen you post this many times on various threads and I can't disagree more. As a consumer, I'm going to do what is in MY best interest, not Verizons. We all know Verizon does what's in THEIR best interest because the Galaxy Nexus isn't out yet. Right now, I have my cell phone, Fios internet and cable tv all with Verizon....so I don't feel a bit bad for "renting" a phone. Verizon extended their return for the holidays so apparently its not a problem for them either. There are many people on here with phones that are about to quit (I am one of them) so I'm not going to just settle on a bloatware infested phone so that Verizon can pocket more money.........get real!

Well, then what I just did about 3 hours ago isn't appropriate behavior in your book. I picked up the Razr with the intention of using it until the Nexus came out. However, I really like the Razr so far so we'll see....maybe I'll keep it. Granted, I'm coming off of 4 years of Blackberry, last two with the Storm2 so pretty much ANYTHING is way better than what I'm used too.

Hey, I've been a VZW client for a long time. With 4 people on my family plan, I pay them something like $250/month. They have this policy because the market dictates they have the policy. They know a small percentage of people will do this. They have the cost built in. And personally, I almost never return stuff unless it breaks or something so I'll be sleeping well tonight.

And it's good for my mental health. Now I won't be checking 20x per day hoping for some news. I can enjoy this phone and if VZW decides not to release the Nexus until December 26, I have no problem with that.

Question for the people "renting." I am currently up for an upgrade and a loyalty discount of like 50 bucks. If I use these on a Razr and return it ....will it be able to be applied to the galaxy nexus or will I lose the upgrade and discount?

You will be able to keep both.

You will not lose either.

If you happen to return the Razr before the Nexus is released your upgrade eligibility/date will be reset. You may need to call a few times since they are prettty slow with resetting the date but you should have no problems.

With the NE2 $50 discount, there is a chance that it will not be reset. Reason being the NE2 program no longer exists in the Verizon system so it cannot be added back on to your account. However, all you need to do is call customer service and let them know that your NE2 was not reset after you returned the Razr and they will give you a $50 credit to your account on your following bill.

Bingo! Vzw dont care about me, they just want my money. They are dangling a nice big fat juicy carrot of extended returns policy and so anyone like me that has a droid or other phone that is on its last legs is making a sensible decision if they decide to take vzw up on their offer. I get to run with the razr to really get to know it for 7 weeks. Returns policy has been extended to 15th Jan i think now. I have an email from vzw stating that although if i switch to Gnex i'll probably do it by the 9th just to be safe. This Razr looks decent for what i want, i got $50 off it and i'm going to enjoy the next 7 weeks with it while everyone who wants a nexus (when it comes out) says what they like /dislike and then i'll make decision on whether to give it back or keep it. This is NOTHING like buying clothes, wearing them for a night and then taking them back lol

Looks like I will be a temporary owner of a Razr come Tuesday AM.....if current rumors are true....thanks for the info guys

I folded and bought a Razr full price (hopefully can sell my Dinc2 for a good price), yes money is not a thing for me have no kids and not married, but besides that i absolutely love the device. I mean, i would love for the resolution to be bigger, have NFC (which to me i don't care for as of right now) and my only other gripe (which i'm getting use to) is the side bezel being a little out there, i put Go Launcher on this phone and it flies, seriously, this phone is fast. People reported hissing between switching songs, i haven't heard any (using Google Music to sync back up my music library), i cannot comment on the drop calls yet, but 4g is strong in my area (NYC). Funny part was when i went in the store to just tell the guy i'm buying it flat out, he was like "um, wow, you're really paying the full retail" - with one of the rage comic faces. I don't mind the 35 dollar restocking fee i paid more money in a club being drunk, but to all those who are interested the phone is good, hopefully it gets ICS quick for those who might plan on keeping it.

I went and held both the razr and rezound today and i felt the razr was huge(width wise in hand) the rezound felt much more comfortable to hold in hand and most likely I will be getting one of those next week if no announcement is made.

Rentals - what a lot of you are not thinking about is how long will it take to process your return - 7-10 days??? What happens if takes a while to process your return and give you back your upgrade. If you have NE2 and you return after the 1st (NE2 ends this year)?

You'll be waiting that long without a new phone (or putting the old phone back on).

Just some things to think about!

Have had my Razr for 48 hours. I've been a BlackBerry Storm2 user for 2 years and a Pearl for 2 years before that. So I had a lot to learn. Feel pretty comfy with it 2 days later. Battery life seemed like an issue at first but I've figured out how to manage that. Been on for 8 hours of light-moderate use and at 63%. Original intention was to rent this one until the GN came out. Probably still what I will do but who knows? Either way, at least now I'll have a point of reference and some experience with Android pre-ICS. So far, so good. Very happy.

Love hearing when someone from the darkness makes their way to the light at the end of the tunnel. It's early but what are your thoughts on android, after coming from a BB for so long?

Is there a sub-forum where this can be discussed? Honest question. I'm in the same boat - never had an Android device before. I've been content to wait for the Nexus, but wonder if I'd be okay just jumping in with the RAZR. I like everything about the Nexus, but the one thing that concerns me is the bugs that inherently comes with a new OS.

Maybe in the lounge? You could make a post there and discuss it?

BB rules in the email category. It sucks in pretty much everything else. I only used BB because that is all our IT dept supported up until 2 months ago. The only thing I miss is the keyboard layout on the Storm. I really liked the 2 letters to a key thing because the keys were big and it was really easy for me to type on them. Having a little bit of a learning curve with the smaller single key qwerty layout.

Otherwise...c'mon...everything is 10x better. First of all, my Storm2 took like 8 minutes to boot up. It was ridiculous. Everything else is snappier. The browser on the Storm2 is a joke and very slow. The browser on the Razr is fast even in 3g. I can go on and on. I'll finish with this.. I didn't have a choice, I had to use BB up until recently. But anyone who CHOOSES to use BB over Android need their head checked. I know there are some people who only care about email, don't really do anything else with their phone, fine...use a BB.

I was in a corporate Verizon store a couple of days ago, buying an iphone 4s as an added line to my account. The manager asked me when I was going to do my upgrade since it was past due. I told him that I was waiting for the Samsung Nexus. His reply was why not test out the Razr and take advantage of the extended return policy as a short term solution. If I don't hear a definite release date for the Samsung by the 22nd, I'm taking the manager up on his offer.

The Razr is a great phone. I have it and I just might keep it after the Gnex releases. Battery life for me is the best I've experienced with Android minus the Bionic with an extended battery... but that could have been used as a weapon it was so big. Its freaking fast too. Blur is not bad. This is the longest I've owned a phone (4days) with no root. I can't wait to get ads off this damn thing and get TiBackup running, but other than that I'm happy.

Things I wish could be improved: screen. Its no nearly as bad as my Bionic. Its not as clear as the Rezound, but its brighter. I was having problems seeing the Rezound outdoors. Charge port location... I have mixed feelings with it being on the top. Oh and the locked boot loader... but the Gnex might come locked anyway. ;-) Well that's about it..
