Hey guys I'm interested in rooting my phone using the unrevoked method. I was wondering do I lose all my data and apps if I root my phone and is there a serious risking of bricking my phone if I do this? I've never done this before and I'm kind a little nervous about it. Any help would be great!

Thanks guys.

Just rooting your phone won't affect anything that is on your phone now. It just gives you access to modify system files.

Ok so if I do the unrevoked root, then all my apps and contacts and texts and data will still be there? I mainly just want the WiFi hot spot and ability to delete the Verizon apps.

Read first. There are apps that when deleted can affect the stability. I believe you can delete facebook and twitter and stuff like that but if you delete friendstream it can really screw the phone up. I deleted skype, all the VZ garbage and teeter with no ill effects. then i went ROM flashing and life is grand.

Best idea, do a search and start reading.

is there like a step by step walk thru somewhere that shows how to do this? that would be a great help.

which method do i choose from their site? Unrevoked 3 or unrevoked forever?

unrevoked

unrevoked forever is a different program which achieves s-off. The most current Unrevoked3 will achieve s-off in the rooting process.

There should be directions on the unrevoked page. You can also search here as well as xda-developers

I'm using Virtuous 3.2 with the Incredible Revolution theme and I'm loving it. It's sense based so all the sense aspects are there but with slight tweaks that make it look, in my opinion, very slick and classy.

Tony tony my daft punk fan hit me up

mwahahaha!

Still trying to decide whether to root or not.
Everything on the device has been working flawlessly for 5 months now without a replacement (remember I had 4 in a month).

Reasons to root: Get rid of junk, screen capture
Reasons not to: Everything is working great which is rare for me.
