I want to type in a search NOT use google voice

All of sudden any search I attempt to do brings up google voice , BUT I want to type in the search

Ver 4.4.3 on HTC Desire 612

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean by Google voice? Do you mean that it asks you to speak now, and waits for you to say something? How are you accessing Google Search--by tapping the Google Search Bar widget, or using Google Now?

Settings/Apps
Then pressing search icon. Google Voice appears, not able to see a keyboard

Then pressing search icon. Google Voice appears, not able to see a keyboard. Yes it says 'speak now' with a red microphone

I also see the same in Google chrome, gmail etc.... Almost like the keyboard is gone ??

Do you get Google Now if you press and hold the Home button, then swipe up when you see the Google logo? If you don't, then long-press any empty part of the homescreen, Add Widget, and look for the Google Search widget. Long press it, then drag and drop it to the homescreen. If you tap the Google Search widget, you should be able to search normally.
