Hi everyone,
I have a stock Thunderbolt, non-rooted, and ever since I requested the push update on the 3rd, my phone has been randomly rebooting several times a day, and also, my battery life has been much worse, as many of you have been seeing.
I just got off the phone with a second tier tech support person at Vzn, and supposedly, here is what is going on.
1 - if you manually requested the update, as I did, and didn't get the notification, that combined with another piece could be what caused the issue. The rep suspects that there is likely "a glitch" in the update.
2 - the rep stated the phone is supposed to do a factory reset after that update is pushed, wiping all the data (but it should resync the data with the combination of your Verizon Backup Assistant and Google's backups).
And here's where the issue is, if your phone did NOT do a factory reset, like mine did not, because I requested the update vs having it "pushed" by their systems to my particular phone, it will continue rebooting at various times until it is able to perform that final factory reset, which it needs to complete the software update install. The rep speculates this is the "glitch". Afterwards, I had to run through the HTC setup again, which the rep says is part of the process.
SO, the rep says the fix is to backup your phone, then perform a factory reset, so the update software on the phone will know this has occurred.
To me, this makes the most sense from everything I've seen so far.
Can other users confirm whether they 1 - saw a factory reset and not just a reboot (like I did), and 2 - manually requested the update, or whether it was pushed to them?
I'll post an update, but I bet this fixes it.
