[ICS][4.0.4][4/2] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

Re: [ICS][4.0.4] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

I have one more noob question, how does one wipe cache and dalvik cache?

Re: [ICS][4.0.4] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

It worked! I used CWM and downloaded the rom. Roodkeeper work flawlessly. This was my first time to flash a ROM and was really simple.

Is there a way to install just the leaked radios? let's say you already have a 4.0.4 rom build already but want the supposed radio improvement.

Yeah they're in post 2 in this thread

Re: [ICS][4.0.4] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

My results... Unlocked/Rooted/Stock 4.0.2/Latest version of CWM.

100% successful, zero headaches.

I pretty much followed the step by step instructions exactly as posted in the OP. I did not wipe anything (as is usually the habit if you often flash custom roms), and treated the whole process as if it is installing as a normal OTA would.

  • Downloaded the .zip, renamed to update.zip, moved to sdcard. (note: i did not remove recovery from the .zip)
  • Installed and ran Rootkeeper and protected su/root.
  • Ran ROM Manger and verified I had the most recent version of CWM (non touch version)
  • Made a backup via ROM Manager
  • Booted to CWM via ROM Manager
  • Installed Update.zip
  • Rebooted
  • Ran Rootkeeper to recover root.
  • Reflashed CWM via ROM Manager

No errors, no hangups. All data preserved (pics/music/apps/app-data/etc).

I have a suspicion that those who're receiving errors or are losing the ability for Rootkeeper to succeed, are wiping out of habit, when in this case you shouldn't be.

I used Wugs toolkit to Unlock and Root a few days ago and then I used Jerry's OTA method to flash build IMM30B but before I did that I made a backup with CWM. In theory that should take me back to Stock 4.0.2 including radios? And then I should be able to use DenverRalphy's method?

Yeah what he said.. I only been rooted for about 4 days and it was too easy... Just make sure you follow his instructions so you dont get borked radios..

yeah it's a very simple process. :)

Re: [ICS][4.0.4] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

I haven't yet manually updated my gnax to the latest 4.0.4 build. What are you guys finding in the new release? Is the radio better? anything new or enhanced?

I will be flashing this soon. I had un-rooted & locked my bootloader to see if I would get the OTA from VZW. I haven't yet so I'll be going back and root my phone with this update.

Updated to IMM76K, and updated radios with no problems. Thanks dmmarck and zero neck!

Afaik CWM doesn't backup kernel or radios but I could be wrong.

Noticed my first quirky thing this evening. Had a random reboot when swiping between home screens. I usually never had them then when it booted back up it wanted me to activate the phone. I hit next and it went in like normal. Also Google+ wont stay disabled now either.

Re: [ICS][4.0.4] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

clockwork backs up rom and kernel but does not backup radios or bootloaders.

I wasn't sure about the kernel but I knew there was one other than the radios skipped by nandroid.

After you set it up again did you do a reboot? might want to try that.

If the activation keeps coming back up - ask dmmarck about that - he's had that happen a few times i believe.

the reboots might be caused by weird signal or something. or its possible your phone doesnt love the new radios. give it some time and see how it goes, if it stays this way and reboots alot you might want to go back to 4.02 or try a different combination of radios.

Re: [ICS][4.0.4] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

Honestly I cant remember if I rebooted again after the initial boot up on the install. I might not have. I have however since did it again after the random reboot and the activation thing didnt come up. I will be keeping an eye on it though. I wish I could keep google+ disabled now too. It was before but now it cant be and stay that way.

Re: [ICS][4.0.4] Official IMM76K Update Thread for the VZW GNex

Okay, I just re-rooted and flashed the IMM76K and I already have better signal. I wasn't getting 4G at all at home, but now after the update I have 2 bars of 4G signal. I know it's early but I'm hoping this will at least cure my signal issues.

I just installed the new update about 2 hours ago and I've had full signal since loading the new radios. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself but signal seems to be a lot better and I'm not dropping 4G like I was on the 4.0.2 radios. Thanks to everybody that had a hand in getting this update up for all of us, I really appreciate it.

Just completed the update from IMM30B with FA02 radios to IMM76K with FC04/FC05 radios. Here's what I did:
1. Reverted back to ICL53F radios via CWM and a recent nandroid backup and rebooted (wiping cache and Dalvik cache prior)
2. Flashed EK02 radios (zip file via CWM) and rebooted
3. Checked that all went fine - it did :)
4. Flashed the new OTA IMM76K-from-ICL53F zip file (with the recovery folder inside the ZIP archive removed to keep CWM) and rebooted (wiping cache and Dalvik cache prior)
5. After successul reboot I'm running IMM76K with the new FC04/FC05 radios :D

However, I lost root and OTA RootKeeper was not able to restore it (I made SU backup prior to the whole procedure). So I booted into CWM recovery again and flashed the modified SU for 4.0.4 that is floating around and rebooted. This restored root for me. :D

So far I have no problems. It's actually quite amazing that I was able to do that without running into major issues. I just rooted my Gnex last week (long-time webOS user and first time root ever!) as I lost hope that Verizon would push out an update any time soon.

This worked for me. I didn't have root even after using the WugFresh tool. I just re-flashed the above su zip above and that did the trick.
