ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life

By the sound of everyone in glad it got rid of my 3d last week. I put this in the market but got no response yet. A little over a month ago I bought a brand new extended battery (standard size) for my 3d.last week I traded my 3d in for the lte. I have this awesome brand new battery just sitting here doing nothing. I have that,, a desk top cradle (also practically new) and a casemate " barely there " case. All 3 items are a steal for 50 bucks. I could stream for 7 hours straight on this battery and like I said, it only got used for a month.

Mine has been going for 7 hours now off of charge and I'm at 40%. I will now plug it in for the remainder of the evening considering how much use it got while I was out today. I love my E3D and I am so glad to have it.

I'm running off of 12 hrs now and I'm at 44 %. I can definitely live these stats.

For those who are experiencing bad battery life, have you guys tired doing a factory data reset after the update? That has plagued me in the past....

The battery is 1900mah,, the white battery I will throw in also, that is a worn mugan 1900 mah extended battery. Still good for like 7 hours of use. Like I said,, about the new battery, I bought it and I was upset when I realized I had to trade my 3d in because this battery was brand new. I was going to give the 3D to my wife. The early upgrade program made me have to trade it.

Today, I'm at 13:50 and at 78% with BT and 3G on all day. I also noticed that I left WiFi on and had no connections...I wasn't anywhere with it today. I'm pleasantly surprised with today's results.

Had same problem after update restarted phone and everything worked fine. Been getting great battery life. Also on the early upgrade you could've activated an old device instead and traded that in... I tell people to get a 10 dollar flip phone activated do the buyback and keep your phone... :-)

Been getting poor battery life. I used to be able to stream di radio for an hour and a half easy and only lose about 15% battery w/screen off. Today I streamed for under an hour and lost over 25%. This is over 3G. Wimax hasn't been working lately for some reason.

25 percent an hour is about what I always used when streaming on my 3d with stock battery. That was dam good life you were getting before.

I just got this EVO 3D from a friend and I updated it to ICS also and I took the phone off the charger at 5AM this morning and I went to work and barely used it. By 3pm today the battery was at about 60%. I wonder why it drained so quickly.

I've noticed a slight change in battery life for the worse... But as mentioned above, my WiFi has been terrible... In my house I'm not even getting 1 bar for WiFi now... Never had anything under full bars for my WiFi... Anyone else?

I thought at first, like many of you have mentioned, that I was using my phone more in familiarizing myself with ics, but after a few days with this update, I could no longer deny that there was a definite change for the worse in battery life. After reading many forum threads that recommended factory reset (and as painful as it was) I went ahead with that approach. I am posting here to recommend to all that are experiencing this issue on their 3d's, that you go ahead with the factory reset (after thoroughly backing up of course). The difference is night and day. And not just with the battery life, but other little buggy issues like force closes and the like.

Re: ICS and LONG Battery Life

I don't know all these issues with the battery. Mine works great. Maybe some people are having root remorse , or are doing odd thinga with their phones.

I had battery issues and noticed that my phone was constantly syncing after the ICS update. I did a full factory reset including a full reformat of my SD card starting completely from scratch. I only reinstalled the apps that I know I use frequently and cannot live with out.

A few things I made sure to check:

  • Google+ And Google Talk reset to defaults after doing the reset. I logged each of these apps out as I don't use them often
  • I moved from using the HTC mail app to the Gmail app. For whatever reason I notice that the phone doesn't seem to sync that app as much.
  • I made sure to check my sync settings for all apps and adjusted them to my needs

My phone is now giving me better battery life than I was getting pre-update.

Post-ICS, my battery life went to hell. I switched from my home WiFi network back to Sprint's 3G, and battery life returned to normal. Now, back to reconstructing my contacts...

I think I found the solution in settings. The problem is in Wi-Fi. Using advanced setting change keep on WiFiduring sleep to always and check best Wi-Fi performance. Also screen brightness to automatic.
