ICS updated, no hack nor rom

Don't get the Vivid. I have it and love it but I would get the HTC One X if I were you. ICS, Sense 4.0, Android Beam, and more goodies that just arent built into the Vivid.

*should.* I think I saw where they are going to continue the updates again. I think the vivid is so close is because of the One X. It really seems like its a matter of days now.

I have been told that with in the next several weeks that the att stores are going to be doing a display centering the Beats by Dre and from what is being said is that the Vivid will be the phone on the display for it

I don't understand what the big deal of having beats by dre is? Can someone explain?

I assume since HTC pretty much owns Beats? and the Vivid is the top of the line HTC phone at AT&T that they (htc or and att) wanted the phone to have the ICS as a selling point..

just a guess though

they were pimping it on American Idol as well.

OK, so I've had this update for a little over 24 hours and it's working well. I really DON'T LIKE Sense 3.6 so I loaded ADW Launcher EX and got that working to my desires. I had forgotten about ICS having face detect until this afternoon and now have it running (just to amuse friends). My battery seems to be running longer but I'll have a better idea of that on Monday when I return to work. Sorry some people can't get this. Very glad I did! ;)

sorry what I meant was what is beats do?

gotcha ?

hmmm not sure how old you are but if you are "old" and remember stereos of the 80-90's that use to have a button called "loud" where it made the music sound "great" ? that is what Beats Sound does? cranks up the bass while flattening it as to not overlay distort..

Its actually not bad for a "walkman" style device? and I have tried it (not on my vivid since i can't get the damn update GRRR) on audio books and podcasts and it helps a lot on them?

I'm loving the update. Battery life for me has improved and the phone runs way more smoothly. I like that I can use google chrome now and its great! Also boid is a really cool twitter application for ice cream sandwich. Overall I'm really pleased with the update to say the least.

I'm loving it too. BTW, how is that google chrome working out? I use google all the time, but haven't tried "chrome". Please give me a rundown on how that works. Thanks.:)

I tried at 3:00 PM PST from Seattle. The dial code is no longer is working. I would not do the upgrade if it didn't add the Beats Audio. From an aesthetic point of view, the present OS with the black curved bar on the bottom of the Vivids screen where you access your apps, phone, and personalize it, presently look way classier and modern/retro than how the upgrade changes where these functions are accessed. Everything has become so boringly linear... as it also is at Apple. Not only is the sexy curve gone but so is the personalize icon :( You got that one wrong Googlies... it is something that a lot of us do access quite a lot. For me personally it is phone, mail, and personalize. It was exactly where ones intuition would lead many of us to. Maybe the HTC 4.0 Sense will bring back the curve? I only hope so. What do you guys and gals think? I am going to really miss my curve and what it accessed. :( She sure looked beautiful as I touched her 3 special buttons daily. How are boring straight lines going to get me excited Google? Please, please fix this HTC.

I am glad I wasn't able to update yet. I might not really need or want to. I am used to and love what I have now. We will see. I'll find one to play with first as soon as it's in a store .

You misunderstand. Google doesn't have anything to do with what HTC does to Sense. Sense always has, and always will look different from stock Android.

Well I decided to try google chrome and I love the browser. I know it is still in beta but I love the way it works. Its very seamless. Easy to open tabs and navigate between them. You can also have your bookmarks from your home computer and synch them with your phone. It is a great thing . It is only going to get better. The browser is pretty quick to.

I have used Dolphin/Dolphin HD for almost two years now as my default browser. Chrome def beats Dolphin. Just for the sheer sync ability of Chrome. As long as you are logged into Chrome on your computer and phone, then your tabs on the computer are visible on the phone. Also you can access your bookmarks from computer and from your mobile. Chrome will keep them separate. So far I love it.

Has anyone who applied the update had less battery life? Also since the update if my phone powers off when it powers back on it goes through part of the update process. Anyone else having this issue?

I have actually had better battery life since the update. I can get through most of the day on one charge with moderate usage. As for the update after it powered on. I did get that the first four times I powered the phone on. After that it stopped and I have not had it since.

anyone have any thought when this update goes into the official pool? I want it sooo bad… (but not into the whole rooting XDA stuff)

I'm thinking sometime next month it may be updated. After the release of one x possibly. That's if it comes out in april. I have a feeling they will wait till after its launched here.(one x)
