ICS will roll out June 27, 28, 29 depending on your location

UPDATE!

I just talked to my contact at Big Red and here is what is going on. Motorola sent ICS out to about 1000 razr owners a couple days ago outside of the soak test to further test the OTA application download. They are now waiting to hear from Verizon tech support on any possible problems with the official OTA version. Once satisfied and the first group is happy With what they got, Motorola will start the mass OTA most likely tomorrow on the 27th as planned. HOWEVER he said it could take another 4 weeks for everyone to get it because Motorola is being very careful and plans to closely monitor the download process for glitches and may start and stop the OTA to insert fixes as it goes along. Well there you have it.

Interesting. I was never part of any soak test and I received my ICS OTA early in the morning on 6/23. I've had a couple of folks on other fora call me a liar because I claimed I received it without being a soaker. This would apparently explain that . . .

And while my upgrade did not go well (I finally had to do a wipe and recovery of GB .181 before I could install ICS), I didn't rely on VZW support to get upgraded. If anything, that might ever-so-microscopically skew the release to the public sooner than later :D

Just release it already, roll out on the 22nd means the 22nd not the 27th or 4 weeks after, this is by far the last Moto device I'm purchasing sorry abut sounding like an ass but I purchased the phone for this very reason, then about 4 other phones came out after with stock ICS now Im waiting possibly 4 more weeks?! Heinous, bye bye Moto.

I'm so confused with this whole process. I've heard so many dates/plans/rumors that I have no idea if/when I'm getting the update. I was hoping to see it before I go on vacation - just so I'm not updating on the road.

Dazed and Confused in Ohio...

Don't know how accurate that reps info is....the motorola forums page for the testers states this is the largest soak group ever w/ 20,000 testers....the deadline for the Soak close out survey is this afternoon and if no critical issues are identified i assume/hope everyone will get ics by the end of the week.

I understand your frustration, but prepare your flame shield, because the Moto Defense Force is at the gates.
For the record though, I don't think the Q2 deadline will be met, but I'm sure that the average Joe's frustration will be brushed aside because it was "released" to the soak group, so it's our own fault for not signing up on MFN.

...But the 22nd was never an official release date. Q2 was an official release date. The 22nd was a rumor (that turned out to be true) for soak testers. And that deadline WAS met. The OTA rumor for the general public is the 27th. We'll find out if that gets met tomorrow. They haven't dropped the ball yet. This info, if true, means that only if there is a major problem with the OTA process, then we could see another wait, up to four weeks.

I still don't see the outrage. I understand some of you were duped by Verizon sales reps, but let's get real, by saying April, they probably only heard Q2 also. In their sales minds, they interpreted that as the beginning of Q2, and told us April, where Moto and Verizon really meant "sometime in Q2" which means June 27th is a perfectly acceptable timeframe. Is anyone really THAT disappointed with GB and more importantly the Razr/Razr Maxx hardware, that you'll never buy another Moto product? Because my experience has been wonderful, even compared to my friends that have even newer devices than mine.

I have a feeling ICS will only reinforce my experience and I'll be more than willing to buy Moto again based on this device.

I signed up/registered long ago and have not gotten it

It wasn't a rumor. It was posted ON VERIZON'S WEBSITE THAT THE ROLLOUT HAS BEGUN.

I mean, unless Verizon posts rumors about itself, then no, it was an official rollout.

Well maybe it did begin and then Motorola stopped it and that's why my guy said they may start and stop the downloads to adjust them at will and why it might take another four weeks for them to finally get it to everyone. Maybe it's still screwed up and this way they can say see we got it out by Q2 as promised but alas we had to pull it for problems to save face, who knows. We will see over the next few days for sure.

Man, did it start getting hot in this room?

The release announcement was made by another Verizon employee that did not have all the information again. I believe Verizon suffers the same problem so many large companies suffer - bad internal communications. When you have bad internal communications it will leak out to your customers (wrong information, incomplete information). Verizon needs to be more transparent with their communications to us consumers. Something other than a scanned PDF document that is not controlled and out of date as soon as it is scanned (welcome to QS9000).

While I feel slighted that the release hasn't been made available to everyone, although Verizon said it was, I'm not going to stand here and damn either company. Overall they are solid American companies that have the same issues all large companies have. Trust me, I work in a large company who's #1 customer is GM. We run into this all the time.

Back to my silent suffering...

If that is the case, I'm looking forward to the upgrade. Sometimes you feel apprehensive when you apply an upgrade because it might not be fully vetted. However, this looks like a lot of care was taken to make sure it will be a solid OS. Can't wait.

But...according to the dozens of review threads, excitement threads, and screenshot threads I've seen, the rollouts HAVE begun. There is no misinformation here. The soak test is part of the official rollout, seeing as the soakers aren't getting a chance to try out the download and then re-download an official version a week later. They've got it. Therefore, the rollout has indeed begun. To be honest, this is my first shot at upgrading my phone's OS so maybe it's been handled differently in the past, but for me, I still don't see the outrage. My phone works great. All I'm waiting for is a smoother, more efficient candy to chew on. Now, if my phone has been marred by performance issues, slow response, dropped calls, buggy applications, and the like, then yes, I would be on the frontlines shouting "where is my update", but the truth is, I haven't had any of these. As it stands now, my device is still better than those of almost everyone I know, and the major changes that ICS brings will only serve to widen that gap. That's something I can wait patiently for, to be sure it's a perfect, seamless transition.

That type of thinking is way too logical and mature....we will have none of that here!!!

I hope Motorola hits the dates for their other phones, just as they've hit the DROID RAZR/RAZR Maxx timeframe.

Don't count your chicks before they hatch. The update is still in the "Testing" phase, and a general rollout hasn't begun. Soak testing could last for another week for all we know.
When that OTA notification pops up for all of us, then we can sing victory.
