ICS

I guess I came in late to the game. I've been watching for ICS since April and this was the first time I have seen the link I posted, so I got a little hopeful.

hey at least by coming late to the party you haven't gotten your hopes up 6 times only to have them be crushed when another rumored release date passes. June 20th was the worst.

I thought May 9th was the worst, but June 20th is a close second.

The only problem with everything you are saying is that all the leaks are 4.0.3 even the supposed OTA leak from june.

I call BS, not on you but on Josh
I might have used the wrong version numbers in that post you quoted. Here is the explanation that I gave on AF. If I'm wrong and it was 4.0.3 and 4.0.4, I'm sorry, didn't mean to confuse up the works.

I might have gotten the version numbers for the ICS upgrade wrong, but I could almost swear that Josh said 4.0.4 and 4.0.5. Yesterday, I had dug a four and a half foot deep hole that was too small for me to get into, and had to dig it from the surface. Killed my lower back, and by the time I talked to Josh, I was wasted on strong narcotic painkillers. ;) Lots of them. :D So I could have easily gotten confused about the version numbers.

As for disabling the apps, Josh said that the earlier upgrade, 4.0.4 or whatever it was, had the ability to hide the apps, but not remove them completely. He assumed that the newer one, 4.0.5 or whatever, would be able to do the same, but wasn't sure.

SHARE THE DRUGS!

Seriously, version numbers do not matter that much. Every leak, with the possible exception of the one not released into the wild yet has been 4.0.3 and this has been for months. Unless there was a serious flaw in it, and with so many people running it we would know by now, they have no real reason to change it now.

Would they maybe need a new version to get the global features? I am betting that has been the delay since none of the leaks had that feature.

I am betting we will not see global in this one either.

I am thinking they are going to do that separately. Correct me if I am wrong but none of the phones they announced they were making world phones have gotten that kind of update, and the maxx has ICS

Just do what I did and load the leak. I did it yesterday and I'm pretty stoked about it so far.

Yeah I did the same thing, and I am glad I did. Alot more should just go ahead and do it, it's an easy process and I havent had any issues .

The Maxx has global and its on 4.0.4. It comes in the ICS update. That is why I keep saying the 4.0.3 leak will not be the OTA.

I think global is the issue vzw is having. That's why the update is smaller....I guess

I've seen reference to the rollout going to "testers" first. Are these random, or is there a place to signup to be a tester?

It could be that they scrapped the global and took out the code...except that JoelZ over on XDA can get it to work pretty well

I am sure they had leaks, were they 4.0.4 as well or all 4.0.3 like ours have been. until I see a .4 leak, i have to believe ours will only be just .3.

If I do see a .4 leak, that pushes the time schedule back about a month for release

I don't recall. I would have to look. I only remember the one leak for the Maxx. The last Rezound leak was near 2 months ago without global software. That should be more than enough time to have global and 4.0.4 working. I think the final OTA version has been under lock and key. The reason 4.0.4 is important for this release is more browser optimization and other fixes. There is a thread distinguishing the differences in the 2 versions over in the Nexus forums some where.
Anyways I stick to my thoughts on it being 4.0.4. And for awhile now I have been predicting the OTA will start rolling out tonight at midnight or Aug. 2nd.
I'm an ingian ya know. I saw an owl today.

Smaller than what? Is this what your comparing?

RUU = 600MB (complete program)
OTA = 300MB (just the update files)
