I'll take a look at this... any idea if it will erase any of my data settings?

Additional info: my "n" segment is through a Netgear N600 WNDR3400 router while my "g" segment is through a Linksys WRT110. On the n segment, my K1 continuously connects, drops, scans, and reconnects. On the g segment, it stays connected but wth a weak signal. On both networks, I have multiple devices that connect without any issues.

I had the same issue with my HTC Flyer, when using two routers on the same network where both were set to handle DHCP and both were on the same subnet, even though they were assigned different ranges on the subnet. To test it pull the power to one router and see if the issue goes away.

I effectively did that with removing the password from the g segment... i use separate ssid's as well. I had the same experience with the n segment's issue of cycling through the stages as associating with the ap. I went ahead and powered off the g router and still had the same issue. As a last step, I removed the security from the n network and still hlave the same issues.

Regarding the g network, I get good performance if I stay wthin 30 feet of th ap.

This whole experience reminds me of the wireless performance I had with the Zenithink ZT-180. It was so bad I stopped using it.

It does sound like a hardware issue, but I would still try a factory reset before returning it.

Just noticed you used the term "ap" does that mean you are connecting through a WiFi device configured as an access point? If so I have not been able to connect with my Flyer to any access point configured routers. Also have you tried another WiFi network just as a test?

"ap" was just a habit from work... I've got two separate wireless routers wth one running "n" and the other running "g" with different ssid's. The n connection is the worst with the g just a poor strength.

So you eliminate the access point/extender issues. You are at different network, factory reset, return as defective. Factory reset is a long shot but worth a try.

Everything still good with the Ideapad. The pad is a treat to hold. The interesting thing is that although it's listed weight is more than an iPad it feels better to hold because the weight is distributed very well.

Any more info on Netflix? If you can cache movies to watch on a plane offline I will likely buy one.

Regarding Netflix, there is no feature to allow locally cached... The Ideapad's little Andriod guy's pop message says the pre-configured Watch hotlink in the main screen's widget allows one to buy a movie. However, mspot, the hotlinked app, only provides rentals. Lenovo needs to remove that.

Regarding Google Movies, they have it working on the Motorola platform only. When I download the apk and install it the app won't start. Does anyone know when they will have it more generally available? I would think the IdeaPad's support for DRM would make it a target platform.

Truthfully I am not finding it important. This tablet does so many other things right and even fixes some base level honeycomb issues that not yet having locally stored movies is very minor. It is far and away the best honeycomb tablet.

12 days in still going strong.

No real issues to speak of. The tablet is emminently usable (more so than other Android tablets) and Lenovo's changes to Honeycomb make things a lot easier to manage (I really like their making Honeycombs app selector into a full featured application manager that can kill apps). They also added their own fully programmable app quick selector which has basically removed the need for me to even go to different home screens.

I did in my post.

Lenovo added good software to the Tablet that normally needs to be bought. This includes Documents to Go full edition, a full featured file manager, capability to print from the tablet and other such applications.

In addition, Lenovo not only skinned Honeycomb (Thank God, that Tron styling was grotesque) but added to the OS functionality. For example, the Honeycomb open app scroller has been expanded in functionality to be a full fledged application manager that can kill running apps. Lenovo also added a sort of "app wheel" that the user adds desired apps to which puts them at easy access. This addon has removed any need on my part to even go to the Apps area. This same ability for users to customize tools extends to that big clover shaped widget seen in the promos - it can be set to quick launch any desired apps.

Then we get to the physical construction. It is thicker than the Galaxy Tab and about the same thickness as the Xoom. However, the weight is much better distributed in the chassis with the result that it feels lighter. The aluminum case sidings are well sculpted, and things like the micro SD slot are protected by hatches.

The whole design of this tablet shows the same type of overarching concern over how people might actually use a device that has made Lenovo's ThinkPads the envy of the laptop world.

Hi guys. Have to say that I love my ideapad as well. Bought it here in Singapore, so no Netflix... My wife has an ipad1, so that's my only comparison. I also have poor wifi connection and have no idea how to a) factory reset, and b) push the 725 OTA (whatever that is). Even when sitting next to my Cisco router g(?) the signal is only 3 out of 4 bars. Please help if you have any ideas?

Regarding the OS, I have to agree that it's very attractive and intuitive. I was looking at the Xoom and others here hin Singapore, but when I opened the Lenovo for the first time, it was like a cool breeze vs the angularity of the other models. Difficult to elaborate on that analogy, but you'll get it when you see it. It came to about 500 us exactly, so I felt comfortable. Speaking of which, I have to agree that the weight distribution is very nice. It's heavy, but feels stable and balance-able. Tons of apps, which I'm only now beginning to appreciate after two weeks.

Only complaints are the poor wifi (seemingly), and lack of accessories like a case or screen protector. GPS works fine here by the way.

ps. where are the tablet apps.....???
pps. Amazon app store is blocked due to lack of US IP, so have to use VPN.

Appreciate any advice on the wifi... (haha, just typed wife).

3) In About Tablet select System Updates

4) Select the checkbox that says Wifi Only

5) Select System Updates (its right above Wifi Only)

It will then connect to Lenvov and look for the update. You should then be able to follow the prompts to apply the update (it will wipe your tablet so you will have to perform initial setup again).

interestingly, it says no need to update... thanks for your comment. Any ideas on that?

Your tablet may have come with the OTA already applied.

There are ways to tell.

check your Android Version and such

Version should be 3.1

Kernel should be 2.6.36.3

Build should be K1_A301_02_02_110725_US

Also you can tell if the Honeycomb application selector (shows recently opened apps) has a "X" in the upper right hand corner of each app image. If it does you're on the current build, as clicking that X unloads the app from memory.
