Anyone pre-order the Idol 4s? Sick deal for $349. Alcatel got my $$ before ZTE and OP3 did.
I have used the idol 3, recently updated to marshmallow, for the last year. Bought it for $249.
Have found it excellent in all respects. Fast, great audio, good screen, big battery, good display and physical phone in good shape year later.
I am not interested in VR. What do I get for additional $150?
Slightly better screen, slightly faster, N a year from now, side button I don't need?
I probably will keep phone another year, if it continues working well.
Curious how others feel?

Why not try a Oneplus 3. I preordered a idol 4s and already returned the axon 7 to amazon. The OP3 is great and i may cancel the idol but at least wanted to try it out, easy and free return policy.I bought the Idol 3 @ launch last year for $199. I have been weighing the Axon 7 and the Idol 4S for the last few weeks. Kinda relieved to be sitting on the sideline at the moment as Alcatel is having shipment issues and, judging from the forums, Axon 7 is purportedly having QC issues or some software 'features' that rub people the wrong way.
I will be sitting on the sidelines for now and pull the trigger on either phone down the road after a few firmware updates or I might just grab the latest 5.5 Nexus if the price is right (I doubt it will be)

The OP3 never even piqued my interest for those very same reasons.Thought about the OP3 but poor audio, no SD card support and dated screen resolution are deal killers for me.

I hear you! Root without voiding warranty is top priority for me, then camera, manageable size and weight, and minimum 64gb storage. Audio is a nice bonus and screen on oneplus is adequate. I suppose that's why I like the OP, curious if Idol can perform and get root access.Thought about the OP3 but poor audio, no SD card support and dated screen resolution are deal killers for me.

Why can't we get a phone with all this in one package?!
PS. My card was charged overnight, shipping seems imminent!
