If HTC allows conversion from Sense to stock Android, would you switch?

Would you switch from Sense 5.0 to vanilla Android on your existing HTC One?

Very unlikely. Not unless Google adds some more features and makes some big changes to stock.

2nd week as an android user... I see yall talking about Launchers. Just started trying out Nova Launcher. Couple questions - 1. Whats the easiest way to disable NovaLauncher and return to Sense? 2. There seems to be no 'music widget' for music controls on my home screen. why? and finally, is it possible to make folders in the app drawer?
I appreciate any help.

To disable Nova and return to stock launcher you need to go to settings. Scroll down to apps and tap it. Then scroll down to Nova Prime and tap on it. On the right side, tap disable and then tap ok. You can always enable the app at any time. I do this often on my one and one x. I hope this helps.

Yeah but you won't have Zoe's, or Beats audio support on Stock Android. You could replace blinkfeed with something you'd prefer, but you could do that on a stock One anyway by using a different launcher, then you'd get to keep all the hardware features and application support, while getting a more Android feel out of it. And in the end, because the OS would know you don't have a menu button on the hardware, it's going to show up on screen anyway for those apps that haven't switched to the holo standards. Blame Samsung for not making that happen sooner.

Personally I don't see Sense as being in the way. Android is pretty raw, It's like comparing a Honda with a '72 Ford Bronco.

Beats Audio will be supported in Stock Android

If the camera features are dropped then absolutely not. Otherwise I'd probably take a look at least. If the process wasn't too involved.

Probably not. I thought about it and would miss too many of the great camera features.

No. The only stock android roms that I am interested in are developers because they improve stock and add features that stock android doesn't have. I'd be taking a step back. All we would do is install apps for features that are missing that sense provides or apps we already use. And I can load a custom ROM based on stock now if I want an improved stock experience. I don't buy a nexus for stock android. I buy it because of the development.

Yeah... I'm coming from a Nexus S that I have rooted with CM 10 and I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoy Sense 5 and blinkfeed as well as the camera features. Sense 5 doesn't seem as intrusive as other UIs. I'm keeping it!

I love stock Android but the I really like my One as is. I'll keep my Nexus 4 around for a while for stock Android. The big factors in me keeping the One is Zoe/highlight, the speakers, and I love the Sense 5 gallery. Most of that will be sacrificed with vanilla android.

Yes definitely yes, mostly because of upgrade speed. Manufacturers and Carriers are notoriously slow at upgrades

It's easiest just to clear the default. Go to the app settings for nova and click on the clear defaults. Next time you hit the home button, you will be prompted to pick what launcher you want

Make it dual boot so you can choose one and play with the other at will without losing data/etc. and having to rebuild your device every day.

Nope. Don't want to give up Blinkfeed, Zoes, Highlights, IR Blaster, etc. These are what make the One special IMO. Google hasn't exactly wow'ed us the last few years with its updates to Android either.

Say what? ICS and Jelly Bean have improved Android by leaps and bounds. I agree with the first part of your post though.

I'd have to see what new features are in the latest version to know if they'd matter enough to me. The upgrades to ICS then jelly bean were examples of upgrades that would make me very tempted to go stock, but the last after-jelly-bean update is an example of one that wouldn't have interested me much at all, and my preference for the Sense enhancements would still outweigh it.

The trend to emphasize smartphone cameras so heavily as is evident in this thread will always continue because the vast majority of people can't afford to shell out $500-$2000 on a DSLR.
The counter-argument of those claiming they can is that they choose not to. I always call the honesty of those posts into question simply because I question the mentality of openly admitting you trust your most treasured memories to a sub-par smartphone camera. Children's graduations, weddings, family vacations etc. Smartphone cameras pale by a wide chasm to a dedicated camera's quality, and aren't serious enough in quality for anything other than taking funny pictures of Rover chasing his tail and posting them on social networking websites. With that in mind... why do I then need Zoes or any other fancy camera enhancements on a smartphone? I don't. For the above occasions where I need important photos, that's where my Nikon comes in.

In respect to this thread, my answer is: Neither. I wouldn't buy a feature-laden phone that was specifically designed to run as such, but re-introduced as stock. I would buy a phone that was specifically designed to run stock.

did I like to look at that lock screen widget? No, I thougt it was ugly. did I like using the sense keyboard? No the buttons were too small and the swipe feature was not very accurate. Did I ever use blinkfeed? No not once. Do I like the fact I always have power saver in the notification bar? I do not? did I ever use Zoes or highlights from the camera? No. The only thing I did use from the camera was slow motion video that was pretty cool but even then I didn't use it all that often. do I use the stock mail client some sense? No I prefer Gmail. Do I use the stock HTC browser? no. Even though the stock browser is really really good its so ugly and I hate that menu bar that keeps popping up on the bottom of the screen.and last I cannot get over how ugly the phone app actually is in my opinion.

so why did I get the HTC One then? because of its amazing build quality, boom sound speakers, the 1080 p screen, and the fact it has an IR blaster.

so yeah long story short I don't you hardly any of the features from sense 5 so I'm running stock Android 4.3 and yes it does have IR blaster support. M

This + clean and mature look of sense...

This is why I dual boot sense and the GPE rom. Best of both worlds. Live in stock android and fire up sense for photos.

HTC will never read this thread but they should. Their camera software should be apps. They could sell their Zoe app for $.99 to EVERY S4 user. They're idiots. Same with Highlights. If I were in charge at HTC I would go all Steve Jobs on their *** and fire every executive on the software side.

The camera software and Beats drivers are the only reason to use Sense, and Beats is in the GPe.
