How long will it take SkyRaider and the gang to strip all the good out of the OTA and give us a better than stock ROM?

No, I would not go back to stock. Good things come to those who wait. In time you know they will release a better than stock rom.

Same day the roll out starts you will see a root stock rom. I don't think anyone would give up root knowing that they can have a root stock froyo rom.

I'm waiting to see if radio changes when they drop the update. I use my phone for work so have been holding off. Can't wait to get me some froyo. Once they drop custom rom I'll apply it.

With unrevoked forever you would be able to install the OTA if desired and flash a custom recovery meaning Unrevoked "OTA proofed" rooting back so it is safe to say you can do whatever your hearts desire and still be able to re-root your phone.

I personally have the leaked OTA running almost perfectly with the newest radio, Hydrakernal so I probably wont flash the OTA unless I find a legitimate reason to do so.

Yeah, if you unrevoked it, then you did like 4/5 of the work. get rom manager from market and its easy as installing most apps...

what is your rationale? Is it for the radio? I have everything running so well right now and i know once the ota comes out custom roms will be bug proof very shortly there after. I am kind of going back and forth on what i want to do..

I just like having the latest and greatest, at any particular time.

Not only that, I know that the users of my roms will demand it.

Like the stagefright fix I compiled for DI users the day that Google released the code on their repo, I like things right then and there. I hate waiting

And people with your attitude is what makes good devs. And we appreciate your work. Since I'm not a dev, and totally happy with the ROM I'm using now I will stay the way I am until the latest and greatest from people like Adrynalyne, Koush, or Ihtfp69 comes out. They seem to have their heads in the game and are constantly working to our benefit so why no use it.

Go back to bloated, unoptimized, and locked down stock Froyo....no thanks I like the bowl I got now

Well, with s-off (and I might be totally wrong here), I think I can reflash clockwork and re-root myself.

I might be totally wrong there.

Maybe we will get lucky and its not a patch? Its much easier to tear these things apart when they are full files.

Yes with S_OFF supposedly you can reflash clockwork and work some magic. Since you have the NAND fully unlocked you can change files at will. Should be relatively easy (when you know what you are doing) to write up a re-root without issue. Getting clockwork on there was 90% of the trouble originally. Anything that makes it to where I don't have to worry about SD timings etc is all gravy.

I don't believe the Froyo update will be a patch, there is too much changed in the core files etc to make that viable and not mess with phones. Much easier to push out a pure ROM for it. Of course then again we are talking about Verizon here....

I just got my phone on the 11th, soon after the 18th rumor started. I decided then that I would wait until stock OTA froyo came out (provided the rumor is right) and root/flash custom if I decided there was anything I wanted to change.

I am paranoid like that, I don't want to do something to the phone that can't be undone in case something happens and I need to call in my warranty.

S-Off is the only thing that can't be undone. You don't have to have it to flash the newer radio. You just have to have it if you don't want to roll back for each radio update.

You can root, custom recovery, change kernels, radios etc without it. Another thing to keep in mind also, is the official 2.2 may patch the exploits used to root a phone. (I doubt it but you never know, it's happened in the past.)
