I'm calling it

This is why my next nexus will be a GSM version. Between Verizon taking at least six months to push a ota that makes this phone work like it should have. Then the $30 upgrade fee, plus losing unlimited in top of that. Straight talk looks better everyday. I bought the nexus for vanilla and faster updates, but this long to fix the reboots, data loss and so on. My phone was great until 3weeks ago. Now VM come 4 days late, reboots a few times a week, data drops, and unresponsive buttons. Wish Google could get the codes for CDMA and lte and push updates themselves

That's why I pay full price for mine.

Tier 2 just told me the ota is coming next week. Doubt that. She couldn't give me a straight answer on how the iPhone pushes updates. Then she told me that they are working on bug fixes for the razor and the rezound. All she wanted to do was switch my nexus out. Then I asked when 4.0.4 was coming, she said the beginning of May(then said , why did I say that). She then said its all on Samsung, not Google or Verizon. So basically no one knows anything. Maybe we will get an ota after jellybean. But after this and the last conversation I had with Verizon I'm done. 4G LTE all around and drop the signal. Voicemail that comes in 4 days late, and a random reboot 8 times in a row while I'm trying to answer an important text. Not worth 500GB per second. Besides she had no answer when asked why I have to void my warranty to get a 100% working phone.

Whether the update is coming ota soon or not I'd switch out your device under warranty. I'm on my second Gnex and the only issues that are persistent are the occasional random reboot and slow screen rotation. Yes i want the 4.04 radios but my first device had the mic issue, all data radios would fall asleep and all of the other bugs that some suffer from. My replacement has kept me content as the phone works great for the most part.

Fyi slow screen rotation isn't a bug, its designed that way intentionally. Some custom ROMs such as AOKP actually let you set it to be much faster (screenshot coming)...

That isn't what is happening with my Nexus. On my Nexus the second I rotate it the screen begins to redraw but only half of it draws and you have to sit there and wait for the rest of the screen to show up. It is most apparent when you have the keyboard opened. It isn't a built in feature, it is a lagtastic phone that can't handle switching screen orientation.

Grrrr. I unlocked and rooted and went to restore my backup and it restored NOTHING. So, now I get to spend hours and hours getting all of my apps back in place, and since I don't have that much time at one stretch, this will string out over days without having all of my stuff.

Those radios better be worth it.

Just got off the phone with a level 2 tech and he said that the update was pushed last week but pulled for further evaluation and is supposed to be rolled out this week. I'm not holding my breath but at least it's kind of good news. If the ota isn't out in a few weeks he said that i could replace it with a different phone. To bad there isn't anything that I want. If there are any heads in South Jersey that can help out installing the IMM76k zip I'd be glad to take a trip and pay for the help.

Yes, It did start restoring and restored four of my apps (out of about 100). The only non-Google app it restored was Box (without my settings, of course).

And all of my pictures are gone. And all of my downloaded music. And all of my pinned music in Rdio, and all of my subscriptions in Beyondpod and the downloaded podcasts. And, since I don't have that many hours in one stretch to work on this, it will string out over many days. This is not good.

I hope the new 4.0.4 ROM is enough of an improvement to be worth this much work. Especially since there wasn't really much wrong with my stock ROM.

Did you transfer your music/pictures from your SDcard to your computer, or just a backup through the ToolKit?

No, I didn't transfer anything, just did the backup. Luckily I didn't actually lose any music, since I have it all in Google Music, and I realized that Google+ at least backs up bad versions of my pictures (better than nothing).

But this is going to take a LONG time, and I will keep being reminded of things I need by wanting them and not having them, probably for the next week.

First things first, I guess, where can I get that ROM? Can I use Rom Manager to flash it?

It's in the rom forum. Zero neck posted it. And yes, you can.

However, if you want the radios, you must flash them separately. That's also in a thread by zero neck. Flash the radios first, then the rom. However, if all you want are the radios, and you're unlocked and rooted--then forget the rom, just flash the radios. No need to wipe again (which you would with a rom), and it's done sooner than later.

Great, I will go check that out.

Great, I will go check that out.

Step by step for ya:

(1) Find the radios thread
(2) Download the IMM76K radio package; download it, place on your SDcard
(3) Reboot into Recovery (via ROM Manager)
(4) Wipe CACHE
(5) Wipe DALVIK CACHE (under "Advanced")
(6) Install the radio's zip
(7) Reboot, give it moment or two to get acclimated

hmm, I had already gone to the thread and followed the instructions there, so I didn't wipe the cache. All seems to be OK, will that make a difference?

Yeah, it's more safe than anything. Go to Settings ==> About Phone ==> look for baseband. You should have FC04/FC05.

Yes, they are there. So far, in my office (where the reception has been traditionally poor) the signal strength is about the same. I will have to test out over a variety of scenarios to know whether this has helped at all.

I've noticed better WiFi and better switching between networks, personally.

My reception got slightly better. Went from -101 to -91. It shows one more bar everywhere, not like that matters though.

For those who haven't been checking the AC.com front page or other threads, 4.0.4 was announced by Verizon. The support page is live and it should be rolling out sooner than later.
