meh,
This phone is unique in that is also is supposed to get update pushes directly from google which has turned out not to be the case. VZW is controlling it so google cant run wild with updates and take the control and focus away from their Droid brand. There is a struggle for less carrier involvement and more control from the OEM and OS developers which is why google is releasing the next nexus on multiple carriers at once and not supporting CDMA. They want to take the power away form VZ as they have a strangle hold on their devices due to their network and want to move to a more European carrier type model where you can use unlocked devices on several carriers.
I understand that CDMA/LTE issue, don't get me wrong. My only point is that this "update delay" is the same for all Verizon devices, regardless of LTE, etc. This is not a GN isolated issue; while this update alone may be delayed due to the LTE issue Jerry and yourself have discussed, Verizon generally has never been good with updates.
While Google may be the one pushing (and for all intents and purposes, they appear to be, hence the update being on their servers this week, Verizon still has the rights/licenses to the CDMA/LTE package (before even getting to the specifics of Qualcomm). Therefore, they still have to test it for their network as any other carrier would. Unfortunately, that testing, while it may be thorough and necessary, is always a bit "longer" with Verizon, regardless of device.
I mean the RAZR was released at the same time, right? Does it have ICS yet, or is it still running on FroYo or whatever the hell it came with?
