I'm done. Too many issues, even after the March update.

Most of Hero's issues seem to have to do with connectivity. Even his different app problems point to connectivity issues. I know that Hero lives in Australia. I wonder if he lives in a more remote area of Australia.

Do those of us who don't have Hero's issues simply live in areas of good to excellent connectivity? I know that I do, living near Atlanta, GA, USA.

There are areas of the USA that are fairly remote; probably not as bad as the Outback.

I really wanted a P6P ordered twice both times they (google) screwed up delivery times. Then the complaints started rolling in and I decided no for the P6P.

However just before I ordered a S22, I checked at two different Verizon factory stores about the P6P; both stores, one in Jackson WY, the other in Pocatello ID advised not to go with a P6P due to my location (the western foothills of the Teton Mountains in Idaho); too many returns and complaints from on the eastern side of the state (ID) from Driggs north. They advised a S21, iPhone, and even a moto (I believe an Edge). They did say there were few no more complaints than normal for those living in populated areas such as Pocatello (up/down the I15 strip from UT border to Idaho Falls) or in case of the WY store, near and around Jackson and south to Rock Springs.

I have a Pixel 4XL, and I will add that Number 8 on Hero's list was a problem; not big enough to switch, but now after using the S22U for a week, I sure do love the smaller round quick access tiles vs those large ones on my 4XL. Not a killer and I did get used to it on the 4XL.

You could have more cell phone towers in the Atlanta area then we have trees in the mountains, so I can see why signal capture would be no problem.

Did I want to pay $140.00 more for a S22 over a P6P? Nope. But, it's only money.

No, I live in Brisbane metro area, 3rd largest city in Australia and I'm on the best network (Telstra).

Just ran a speedtest on my Galaxy S22 Ultra: https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/8246832338

The network is not the issue, never has been. It's the Pixel 6 that's the issue.

FPS is noticeably worse for me since Monday. 50% success rate at this point. February update had actually improved it, but it now the worst it has ever been. Whatever they did to tweak it is not good for my fingers. I may just go to a pattern at this point.

Mine is the same as always. Slow but works reliably. Occasionally I have to scan a second time, but I never need to use my PIN. I'm happy with my FPS.

Caveat... I make my living on my computer keyboard and don't do anything to scuff up or dry out my fingerprints.

My FPS is the same as you. I also bang away on a keyboard most of the day as I am a IT Director so my hands don't take a beating either.

Are you using Pixel Launcher or Nova?

I got the black screen issue using Nova launcher. I will need to try pixel launcher. I also have custom icons.

Never had this issue before when I was using the stock pixel launcher and stock icons.

Pixel 6
T-Mobile
March update
I've been using Nova since phone first setup, no issues.

I live in the Phoenix metro area with towers all around and don't have any of those issues either. It just seems that some of these things don't work, and others work perfectly.

Battery is better. And the phone has not gotten ridiculously hot just sitting on my desk. So some progress. Just wish the FPS had at least stayed the same as with the February update. In apps (banking, my password manager) it is pretty reliable and fast. It is the system unlock that is so poor. Not sure why since the apps rely on system biometrics. Maybe because the system is already unlocked... When my current project ends in two weeks and I have a little extra time, I may try a factory reset and see if that helps.

I'm with you OP, one of the worst phones I've ever purchased and the cherry on top is the poor customer service from Google.

I am done with any phones from Google.

Like I said, thankfully I got a great deal from my carrier, though I lost my upgrade and the $300 gift card from Wal-Mart.

My issue wasn't that serious you know, just Connection/Data randomly resetting 3-4 a day. LOL

Same network, on my new Green Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Loving it!!!

Upgrading as we speak to the March release.

If this fixes the issue. I will take every word back. LOL

I could poke holes all day long at the Samsung S22 Ultra, had it since release. Both the P6P and S22U are nice phones, but at the end of the day they are a phone. Certainly a phone is not ranked as a life changing event or shouldn't be anyway in my opinion.

With Android there are options, if you only want one shade of gray once a year, go to iPhone.

If I could design a phone it would be perfect, but only to me. Everyone's usage and needs differ.

I've no issues at all with my P6P. FPS is fast and reliable. No issues with connectivity. Really like the phone. Some people might just have a defective unit.

Yep, same boat as you. You're lucky you're getting a gift card. From what I can tell, the resale value on the Pixel 6 is not very good for a phone that isn't that old.

How did the March update go for you? Better?

Made no difference.

An hour after the update. I'm watching YouTube at the gym and there it is...

It freezes and I get this ! on the connection bar. Takes about 1 minute for connection to resume.

Good news, I got a low ball offer LOL

$650

Not bad, out of all the phones (over 200 since 2009) I've purchased this is the first time I had this problem.

I absolutely love everything about the Pixel 6 Pro except...the connectivity. Often goes out when doing tasks like Zoom for some reason. The phone has the tendency to overheat. And then I keep losing service and will have to restart the phone. Also 5g is a joke! My OnePlus 7 Pro was the only phone to date that I could watch video in YouTube at the highest quality without seeing a buffering screen every 5 seconds. Seriously that phone was fast as lightning and that was on 4g. Even had the iPhone 11 Pro and that was just as slow. If Google could somehow fix the connection issues and I really get 5g speeds I would be happy. Also the last update did weaken the haptic feedback but that's a minor fix.

I was told to request an RMA but Google wants to dance around it...

They want me to do a Bug Report even though the lady said she's aware of this problem. I don't get it, guess she's just going by the book because she apologized and gave me $35 Google Store credit.

Now I have to spend money. LOL What can I buy for $35.

Google probably wants the Bug Report so that they have another data set for Android 12 OS and related system logs. The "System logs", such as in /var/log/message (or similar file structure and location), would contain details that might help them find new or similar clue(s) or correlation with the apparently known symptom(s) or root cause(s). Requesting a Bug Report is standard procedure for support cases where additional information is needed to help analyze, troubleshoot, and arrive at a workaround or potential root cause.

For example, the logs could contain signal strength, data packet loss rate(s), protocol level faults, modem stats, error and informational messages, and similar detail. I say "could" because it I don't have a way to easily read the details in the Settings/About phone/Send feedback about this device/System logs/System logs. Hard to read the details in the "Running apps", "System log", and "Event log" on my Pixel 5's screen.

I imagine that Google Support/Engineering has laptop/desktop level app/tools that can more easily analyze and see contents once the Bug Report is submitted and available. I don't work for Google, just in case that thought comes to mind.

Save it and put it towards a Pixel Watch if you are thinking of getting it.
