I'm looking for an Android equivalent of Audacity

Hi, this is my first message to this forum.

I have a Google Nexus 7 (later version) and live in the UK. I often download BBC programmes with its 'Sounds' app, but they delete themselves after 14 days, and occasionally, there's a programme I'd like to keep longer than this. On my PC, I solve this problem by playing the programme right through with Audacity running, and record it. There is no microphone on my PC, so I don't have to worry about Audacity picking up noises in my room - it only records the programme.

I'd love to do this with my Nexus, but I haven't yet found a way of doing this. What I am looking for is something that will record what the Nexus is playing, but without picking up anything from the Nexus's microphone. Also, it must be able to work when I'm off-line. Can anyone recomment a suitable app? Thank you.

I am not sure this is legal in the UK. The BBC Sounds app and iPlayer allow downloads through their app but they don't permit permanent downloading of their programmes. Sorry I don't think we will be able to help with this on this forum.

But welcome to Android Central.

Welcome to Android Central! What kinds of programs? Have you searched other platforms for them, like the Podcast section of Google Play Music?

Agreed. This sounds like a potential copyright/ToS violation, which we won't help with, and I would also suggest finding other means of legally downloading.

As this is your first post on AC I do feel some sympathy for you with the reaction you've received.

The BBC is virtually totally funded by us the UK population. As such we own the BBC and I cannot see any reason why you cannot record one of their programs for your OWN personal use. This always been the case for many years and any lawful challenges have been dismissed.

Unfortunately, I cannot suggest an app that you could use.

Come on guys, help the OP with some suggestions.

Already did.:) I asked what kinds of programs the OP is looking for, and if they checked other platforms, like the Podcast section of Google Play Music (or the Google Podcast app/feature).

The Beeb may be funded by the UK, but other people outside the UK have potential access to it as well, and they're not funding it. Maybe that's part of the rationale?

That, and the fact that copyright laws are different in every country. So even if this would be legal in the UK, it would be illegal in the U.S. This is a world wide site, so we do have to sometimes tamper our answers to avoid suggestions that could violate a law.

Ok guys, I do understand when you take into consideration other countries laws.

I think my judgment was coloured by my contempt for the BBC plus a late night bevy.

Apologies.
