I'm on my Droid X.

Some phones just aren't for some people. Me? I despise HTC devices. I have my own reasons for that.

But, before you return the X, just try Launcher Pro. It basically makes the phone run and look like stock Froyo...if that's your thing, of course. People have been saying the Moto blur homescreenhas been laggy and choppy, not with this Launcher Pro. Its like the phone is on Froyo already haha

Alternatively, try ADW.Launcher, which is what I'm using right now. I use none of Motorola's widgets and all Android stuff or free apps from the app store.

This is why I love android; because you can customize it a you see fit and aren't in a closed system.

I'm looking at getting a Droid X next month (update time!) and am trying to figure out some of the exact tweaks I'm going to need to make it mine. I really like the way Launcher Pro looks and acts, but after I install it, is it pretty easy to switch back and forth from the MotoBlur-thing to it? (for comparison sake...)

What he said.

Get Launcher Pro, Beautiful Widgets and few other tweaks and you'll love it. I didn't mind the stock UI so much - but with Launcher Pro, BW and Pure Grid Calendar it's complete bliss now for me.

The beauty of a droid is being able to customize it darn near any way you want w/o having to root it (unless you're into that).

Yes it is - just some dragging around of widgets and what not but that's all.
