I'm sad to say goodbye to my S8+

Because it's you. You're using the same Google account that was used on the phone before. If you try any other account on it, it will ask you to enter the one used prior to a factory reset. And you're entering that. FRP doesn't protect against the owner. You're the freaking owner. It protects against use by anyone other than the owner. Also this has just started on Lollipop or Marshmallow depending on the brand on device you used. So if you previously had an older device, it may not have had it.

Even Google's and Samsung's own support website says you should remove your account properly before factory reset.

I sell all my phones after factory reset. That's the only time I do a factory reset and I never log out of Google or Samsung. But I've never heard of anyone complain that the phone is useless. (I have sold about 6 phones so far)

I think it's only a problem if you factory reset from recovery. I've also factory reset from settings on the phone and it's been fine.

Same here. This is new to me

Today I took my iPhone 7 plus to my local T-Mobile store to see if I can return my phone. They couldn't because I didn't pre-order in the store. So he had me sign out of my accounts and they will do a factory reset. The guys was nice enough to print out the return label for me and even put it in a padded envelope to send out. So I will never see my iPhone again. I enjoyed it but I'm going to enjoy my Note 8 even more.

Enjoy. As much as I love the iPhone they cannot compete with the Note line.

I just did a reset of my Note 5. I intentionally did not sign out of the device. I was asked for my Samsung password, which I had to reset because I couldn't remember. Once I got that arranged, I was not prompted for the previous sign in.

Yes, you need to remove your Google accounts before you do factory reset.
I think when doing factory reset, depending on the phone, it should state it's removing all your accounts including Google etc. I know on mine Samsung account requires my sign in to confirm the factory reset, then it goes on to reset.

I buy just about every device that comes out. I never sign out of nothing. I just follow the prompts for a factory reset then sell my device. Never had a issue. Buyers have always been able to use the device.

Thanks for the links. I've already done the factory reset without logging out of Samsung and Google for the return to tmobile. What should I do? Excuse my inexperience..... : )

Don't worry about it. It's really not that big of a deal. I never logged out of my credentials (just factory resetting) before selling phones on Swappa and the new owner never had any problems with using the device.

I think it depoe d's on if yuoi use android device manager. If you do the next person will have issues. I've had to ask f9r p devious owners login before from p hones I've bought on swappa.

*Apparently I suck at typing on my note 8.

I hated to do that too, I honestly didn't want this Note 8 to be much different, maybe a few changes in some apps, like a improvement with the messaging app and a full page editor so you can see more than one or two lines while you are typing but I loved my S8+ and wanted this one to be as close and it has fulfilled my expectations and the battery is lasting all day too.

I'm glad I didn't have to send my s8 plus in. It is my back up phone now. The note 5 is now in Verizon's hands, that was my trade in. I don't know if I would have gotten the note 8 if I would have had to trade the s8 plus in.

With that said, I'm glad there was great deals on the note 8, I love the phone, glad to have the s pen back, missed it more then I thought I did. I wasn't going to get it, but with Verizon matching best buy's $150, and the $480 trade in note 5, I couldn't pass it up and waiting for a sale to come, I doubt we will see better prices on it.
I didn't want to trade mine in but it's my jump line so I had to in order to get the Note 8 now. I'm waiting to see what the S 9 will look like and maybe put that on my 2nd line

How many lines do you have. I have my two teenagers and my line, plus my watch. I actually have four phones, the Note 8 is my Jump phone, plus the S8+ on my line-son using that, daughter using his 7Edge while her 6S Plus gets warranty replaced (port quit working).

Heh, yeah the S8+ was an awesome phone. Still, the Note 8 does feel like a reasonably worthy upgrade (and since I'm on T-Mobile JOD, "reasonably" is good enough). It feels just like the S8+, but a little faster and with a pen. Despite it being a slower process, I derive some weird satisfaction from handwriting my text messages.

I haven't had an S-Pen since the Note 5 (I don't count the Note 7 since that was so short lived). So I'm definitely enjoying my new phone.

The screen sizes on the S8+ and Note 8 are the same even though the Note 8 is a bigger phone. I bought the S8+ in June thinking I would not want the Note 8 but I still bought the 8 on launch day. I'm keeping both phones (I have three T-Mobile lines) and the S8+ has better battery life then the Note 8.
