Dec 15th ordered a Nexus. Played with it for a few days and then sent it back. Lives having the Android OS again but there was a couple of things I didn't like. First some apps had ICS compatability issues, secondly battery life and signal issues.

Jan 2 bought a Razr, really like the phone but hated the 7 hr battery life on 4G I got with it. Then I wake up today to see that not only will there be a new Razr with a larger battery but also my Razr version will most likely be dropping $100 in "coming weeks". Needless to say that phone is going back tomorrow.

Now I am using my iPhone 4s again....now it's a fine phone but I just like the customability of Andoroid and want to go back to Android OS.

I don't root my devices or flash ROM's so that factor is a non issue for me.

What I want is a phone that gets OS/software updates timely, no bloat ware, a pretty decent camera, and obviously a reliable phone.

I know the camera is subpar on the Nexus for most, but do you think that these signal/data drop issues will be takn care of soon? That's really the only thing holding me back at this time.

i see some people complaining about the nexus signal i complained about mine also and i actually returned the phone for the Razr. I just didn't like the speaker volume and camera and feel of the device didn't seem like a "flagship" device imo.

it seems like you should just wait for the Razr Maxx the battery on that thing looks amazing i wont be returning mine because well i got the razr and thought it was extremely cool cause of how thin it was and the battery is good for me cuz i get the whole day with it without needing a charge.

i am also tho kind of intrigued by the LG Spectrum ( seems like LG stepped up) i would've most def really considered it if it came with ICS

Yes.... very indecisive.

If the biggest thing you are worried about is the signal, then purchase the RAZR. I adore Samsung phones and it is usually all i buy, but i will say that from my testing, they have had consistently the worst call quality and reception.

Goldilocks Syndrome. Would hate to see you when you are not sure if it is a or a fart. Lol. Just kidding.

Every phone will have its issues throughout its lifespan. In regards to the radios and data, no problem here. In regards to call quality, again no noticeable tragedy there either. The Nexus was never intended to be the perfect phone, but it will get updates for the next two years and that is a big deal for me. Good luck on finding the perfect bowl of porrage.

None of the high end phones are perfect - not the Razr, not the Rezound and not the GNex. They all have pros and cons. And so will any future phones.

I am going to exchange my GNex and see what happens with the signal. If the signal issues never get better, I will sell it and then buy another phone.

Haven't used any other Samsung phones, however call quality and reception has been on par PR better than any phone I've owned.

This is what I like to call early adopters syndrome. the Gnex is a new phone with a new OS. There are going to be compatibility issues with some apps for a long time, and some may never be updated. As far as battery life, every 4g phone has bad battery life. Now that I have gotten over the new factor and toned down my use of my nexus my battery lasts me 18-20 hours easy with everyday use (without games).

I honest to god believe that in most cases the signal problems people are having are all in their head because they see 1 or no bars on their phone compared to someone else's 3 or 4. I have never had any call quality issues and have never dropped a call with my phone. It works just as well if not a little better than my previous phone and doesnt work in pretty much the same spots as my old phone didnt.

Of course, these are all my own experiences and I cant talk for anyone else.

If I were you, I would go with the Nexus again, mainly because you have stressed that frequent and timely updates are important to you. The only line of android phones that get timely updates are the Nexus phones. Some phones get updates quicker than others, but they will still have a longer wait time because they are not pure google.

I initially planned to get the GN and even made a stop to the local Verizon store to buy one. But in the end I am going to wait. For one thing I expect the price to come down as the next wave of phones gets released, and I am not in a hurry. I also think we're at a point with LTE where I am not sure I want a device with one of the first chips. Next generation LTE chips should iron out some of the issues as well as improve battery life. It will also be a year or so before we get LTE in this part of terra firma.

My initial impression was that I would find the device too large for my interests. That was very much not true. Screen is great, and I like much of ICS. ICS still needs some tweaking, and I think the dev community will hit some runs.

For now I am using an iPhone 4 and have an ICS port running on a WIFI first generation DROID that was collecting dust.

I agree with Poseign on pretty much everything. I've had one dropped call since buying the phone on launch day and the spot where I dropped the call (in my house) is the exact same spot where EVERYONE drops calls. I just had to be in that spot to work on my cable modem, otherwise I wouldn't have even been in that spot.
