Images from email will not save

On my Samsung tab 3, when trying to save or preview photos from an email, it tries to print to a pdf, there is no option to save as a jpeg. It used to be fine and save straight to the gallery.

Disabling printers does not work, and I can't find how to change the default save as/preview format for images. Photos taken from the camera still behave normally.

Thanks for any help!

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the stock Email app, the Gmail app, or something else? What happens if you long-press the attached photo -- do you get a list of options?

Are you long pressing the thumbnail that you see at the bottom of the email, or are you expanding the image to fullscreen first?

Also, is this the older Galaxy Tab 3, or the newer Tab S3? It might be helpful to move this thread to the appropriate subforum, to get more specific traffic from users of the same tablet.

I am long pressing the thumbnail, I cannot get as far as expanding the image to full screen. There are two buttons next to the thumbnail, preview and save, if I press preview it just gives me the option to save as PDF. If I press save it will save the jpeg in the downloads folder, but then when I go to the download folder and try and open the jpeg it again wants to save as a PDF!

It is the Galaxy tab 3.

Go to the Email app's settings and see if there's an option to automatically download attachments. I'm not sure if that'll help, but worth a try.

Also, have you tried other email apps, like Gmail?
