IMAP versus Exchange Gmail

Is there a benefit from setting up my Hero with either IMAP or Exchange for my gmail account? How about battery life comparison for the 2?

Depends - are you using the actual GMAIL app or the email app? how may email addy's are you working with? if its just the one gmail addy then i personally stopped using the mail app and now strictly use the gmail app - it is almost instant. i dont notice any significant drain on battery.

i am using the gmail app. i like how its easier to delete and archive messages then in the mail app. I send and receive about 50 emails a day. Im using the gmail app as IMAP but was wondering if there is a benefit to switch to Exchange but would I then also have to stop using the gmail app because from what I see Exchange only works with the mail app. Is this true?

The one thing i dont like about the gmail app is that it doesnt show me how many unread emails i have like the email app does.

I love how the mail app shows images without having to pressing the show pictures button. It's true html.
