Are you saying under the LG logo on the back cover of the phone? If so, mine doesn't have that, jus the LG logo.

Looked closer, still not there. Mine is a VZW pre-order device shipped to my home. Could it be some carrier models have it and others don't? Which carrier are you with and where did you get yours from, store or pre-order?

My VZW pre-order had a white rectangular sticker on the back of the phone that included the IMEI number. I have a Moroccan Blue V40.

Mine had sticker too.

Verizon only has the sticker, nothing on the phone itself. At least on the blue model.

That's interesting. I wonder if it's a TMO thing or just an anomaly.

I just picked-up a V40 at my Tmo store and sure enough, the IMEI number is printed under the LG logo and glass. It is very faint and you have to look to see it, but it's there.
